Re: [MOPO] Question for Members who sell on EBAY and others who might be interested

2011-11-27 Thread channinglylethomson
I'd like to thank everyone for their input on the problem with the
Greek client who wanted to renege on the items he'd purchased on
EBAY. Believe me, I reviewed everyone's thoughts and I finally
decided to do what he requested. I also had some good advice about
closing out the transactions (which wouldn't hurt the buyer) but would
cover me in case there was negative feedback on the way. After I did
this, I receive one e-mail from another MOPO member who said he had
gone through a similar experience with this particular buyer on EBAY
(also with a breathless e-mail) so although I felt I followed the
correct path on this, it appears the guy may just be nutty or strange
or all of the above. In any event, and more importantly, I hope
everyone had a lovely Thanksgiving!

Sincerely, Channing Thomson

GOOD Job Channing! congrats to you.
see its not what he did , but what you did that matters
as he may be a rip off, or crazy or whatever... But you handled it in
a good way.
When people duke it out on ebay they end up spending so much time and
money and it also can make you stressed, so responding kindly not
only shows the customers and ebay that you are trying to negotiate a
fair settlement and that's what's important.
Also as we have seen on Mopo anyone that is dishonest or does poor
business
eventually builds a track record and never seems to last.. So if the
greek Buyer is not being honest he will lose his ability to bid or
more.
Why people do this I suspect is because they are angry or have issues
with
desiring items they can not afford or they feel they can pull of
scams.
From what I have seen it never seems to last long and they regret it.
You did the right thing and can sleep.. If he wasn't honest well he
has to sleep with it
its great exercise

[MOPO] Question for Members who sell on EBAY and others who might be interested

2011-11-25 Thread channinglylethomson
I just received this e-mail from an EBAY buyer who owes me for several
items he's purchased on the site:

I'M REALLY,REALLY ASHAMED AND TERRIBLY SORRY FOR TH? INCONVENIENCE I
CAUSED YOU,BUT PLEASE,I BEG YOU FROM THE BOTTOM OF MY HEART AND FOR
YOUR OWN GOOD KARMA'S SAKE,TO CANCEL THE TRANSACTION OF THESE
PARTICULAR POSTERS.I GUESS YOU KNOW ABOUT THE FISCAL GREEK
DEFAULT,THEREFORE,I'M EXTREMELY SHORT OF MONEY RIGHT NOW.Yes,I
bought THESE items,BUT PLEASE,I BEG YOU to forgive me for my foolish
compulsiveness.I'm an honest (not a fraud) buyer but in this case, the
situation is far beyond me.SO,PLEASE,SHOW SOME OF THE LENIENCY OF YOUR
SOUL AND UNDERSTANDING.It just only happened once to me,so please,do
not report any complaint to eBAY.I beg for forgiveness.I'M JUST A
HUMAN BEING (LIKE all of us),THAT UNWITTINGLY got carried away with
bidding for items I couln't realise,at that time,(that ultimatelly,I
wouldn't be able to afford to pay).Send me an invoice with your eBAY
fees for listing those items I wiill immediately send you all your
expenses via PayPal.God Bless and thank you.Dimitris

My instinct is to handle this situation by the book and marking the
items he hasn't paid for as Unpaid Items on EBAY and let the chips
fall where they may. Any thoughts on this from fellow MOPOers? I've
never had something like this happen to me on the site.

Thanks for any suggestions, Channing Thomson

2011-11-25 Thread lovenoir2
While the email sounds way over the top, with the CAPS and all.. i
would guess this person is foreign, based on his sentence structure.

It certainly sounds like he got himself in, and realized he cannot
afford your items.

He has offered to reimburse your listing/relisting fees. It isnt as
tho he has vaporized and left you hanging.

Whatever he bid on and won, you will be able to sell in the future, most likely.

Why not let accept what he has offered and move forward?

Yes, he backed out of the deal. But it isnt as tho he has the items,
claims non receipt of said items AND never paid, or filed a paypal
dispute, like many try and do.

Re: [MOPO] Question for Members who sell on EBAY and others who might be interested

2011-11-25 Thread JOHN REID Vintage Movie Memorabilia
eBay has a process that they like sellers to go through in these cases. Rather
than filing a non paying bidder alert, you can mutually agree to cancel the
transaction. You get the commission back but not the listing fees. The problem
with this is that the seller has to file the claim. On rare occasions you file
the claim but the buyer doesnt agree to cancel the transaction despite the fact
that they requested that in the first place. However, if the buyer is genuine
then it should be no problem to mutually agree to cancel the transaction.
