[MOPO] STOLEN POSTER RECOVERED

2017-12-28 Thread walter reuben
Hello to all
I am happy to report that the Riverside County Sheriffs Department has
captured the thief who stole my 365 NIGHTS IN HOLLYWOOD one sheet (as well
as various rare items from other dealers all over the country---a signed
Albert Einstein drawing, a signed 1st edition of Dr. Seuss, a signed Walt
Disney letter, etc.)
And they have also informed me that they have recovered my poster.
The movie poster community acted very commendably. The woman who committed
this crime contacted various dealers. In every case, they knew that this
was a stolen piece, and they declined to buy it.
And so, thanks to all of you, and I wish you all a very Happy New Year!
Walter Reuben

[MOPO] STOLEN POSTER

2017-11-21 Thread walter reuben
Dear Mopo'ers
A thief in Palm Springs bought an expensive Alice Faye one sheet from me,
for 365 NIGHTS IN HOLLYWOOD.
https://walterfilm.com/country-of-origin/USA/365-nights-in-hollywood-1934
She bought it with a stolen credit card.
She has already started offering it to ebay sellers of movie material.
Please know that I am in the process of filing a police report and this
poster will be listed as stolen. Also---very few copies of this are known
to exist, and any copy of this surfacing right this minute will almost
certainly be the one taken from me by credit card fraud.

makes my comment on the artistic merits of the poster that much more sincere
and unbiased. Having said that, had I known that you wrote the script, I
certainly would not have made that comment, in that given circumstance,
because I understand what I great personal achievement it is to sell a
script, and see it made into a movie with a general distribution, complete
with a battery of advertising posters to boot. To nitpick with you, at the
moment of celebration for such an achievement, over something.that is not
germane to the subject, would indeed be very vindictive and petty. But as
I've said before, I had no idea.

Now that I know., Good show Glen, I'm happy for ya!

Best, Zeev

How fun Glenn. I think the poster is fine, of course, by today's standards,
especially for an independant film. I like the sepia, high contrast look and
the juxtaposition of time shown. I can't wait to see it. Keep us updated on the
release. Congratulations again.

No, it's not another job for MOPO police... It's the new poster for STOLEN.
Check it out.

It's different than the festival poster. I liked that one as well but this

I have to agree, it's bloody awfull (Said in a true English accent sipping on

You can't really call that Design sorry, very weak.

I've often wondered about this myself.

Not that I have had anything stolen but aside from these "fingerprints" and the
odd chance that a poster is documented as incredibly rare, how would you know
if a particular poster was stolen.
