These kinds of lists are ridiculous on their face, anyway. I suspect that they were trying to put their own stamp on the list. There are some wonderful films on this list and some idiosyncratic choices. K. Everyone has there own list, I suppose, but comedies were underrepresented, as was David Lean -- how 'bout Bridge on the River Kwai . . and were there no political films, or did I miss it at quick glance? Advise and Consent (which I just saw on the new DVD set) All The President's Men I was glad to see Alexander Mackendrick there with Sweet Smell of Success. Apparently the authors decided to try and come up with a list that was all things to all people, and ended upwith a mongrel that may be "interesting" but which don't really hunt as the "Best 100 films of All Time". Of course, no one would ever agree on the exact makeup of such a list, that's far too personal, but even a first year college film student could come up with a better overall selection than this.
