I'm afraid that wouldn't be harsh enough. I can tell you that I never voted
 for him. I thought we
might be rid of him when Sen. Kay B. Hutch decided to run against him. But
she ran the worst campaign ever --
no, that would be the lady that ran against Scott Brown. He (Perry) is a
certified idiot - not bright - and comparisons
to George Bush are specious. [Incidentally, despite the spin that has
 appeared recently saying the Bushes
have no problem with Perry, it is not true. They dislike one another.] They
might SOUND somewhat alike, but it ends there. At least GWB was an
average student. I am afraid, however, that in this climate - economic and
 otherwise - that people might
go for him. A Perry Presidency would be a terrible mistake for the
Republicans. Awesomely terrible in my opinion. It might
actually mean curtains for the wobbly GOP.

Soon he will start to get a rigorous scrubbing by the media. Let's see how
 well he fares with that.

I'm not a Republican, but George Bush was a pretty good governor for Texas.
 The governor's office
in Texas is not like the Governor's office in most states. Much more power
 lies with the legislature and
the Lieutenant Governor. One of the most powerful men ever in Texas politics
 was Bob Bullock, a Democrat.
One of the reasons that Texans liked GW Bush was that he and Bullock got
along and ran the state (Texas was in pretty
good shape after Ann Richards' administration tenure) well. Once Karl Rove
got hold of GW Bush, he changed.
Bush II was the worst Presidency of my lifetime, I would have to venture, and
 I include Nixon in that.

The fact is that Perry is little more than a common opportunist, and I do
mean common, and I can GUARANTEE you that he would
line his pockets at every opportunity and manufacture opportunities that you
or I could never dream up if
we had 500 years to do it. Cronyism at its absolute zenith.

Meanwhile, under Perry, Texas - TEXAS - who used to pride itself on their
 public school system has
slipped to 51st in public education.

And the jobs creator thing - that is a total myth.

I have slipped OFF my medication and talked about Politics on Mopo. Bruce,
