Re: [MOPO] Ebay Global Shipping Service
I would not use that service. It would add to the cost and seems like another link in chain of things that could go wrong. I also think it must take longer for buyers to receive the item. Re: [MOPO] Ebay Global Shipping Service
Franc, you indicate that you "normally ship internationally via First Class USPS insured mail". I wish I could ship that way from Arizona. It's my understanding that insurance is NOT an available option when shipping International First Class. Re: [MOPO] Ebay Global Shipping Service
I don't know why anyone would want to use 3rd party to ship this stuff. lots of people WHO KNOW how to pack it don't do it right, why would you leave it to someone who doesn't?? international shipping rates killing business?? indeed it is.. that's why I offer pay-and-hold for international buyers who want to pile it up & get one big shipment At 07:50 AM 5/2/2013, Franc wrote: Have any of the dealers on this board opted into Ebay's Global Shipping Program, whereby the dealer ships to a processing center for global shipping and that center takes care of everything else including customs clearance? Re: [MOPO] Ebay Global Shipping Service
Many US online retailers use Bongo International as third-party shipper for international sales these days. I can't say anything about the ebay program, but Bongo seems extremely expensive. I have never used them and I doubt that I ever will. Re: [MOPO] Ebay Global Shipping Service
I no longer buy from sellers who use Global Shipping unless the item is of a higher value. The reason is eBay charges Canadian tax and handling on every single package they ship, which can double or even triple the cost of shipping, depending on the price of the item. On the other hand, if the seller ships directly to Canada, packages are rarely hit with these charges unless the declared value is over about $200 and/or the package is oversized. BTW, in my experience (I've messaged several of them) most US eBay sellers seem to be unaware of the shipping charges non-US buyers must pay if the seller uses the Global Shipping Program. Re: [MOPO] Ebay Global Shipping Service
I agree with Irv 100%. I can't think of anything more disconcerting than letting ebay or any ebay associated entity handle my shipping needs. UGH. Kirby McDaniel MovieArt Original Film Posters P.O. Re: [MOPO] Ebay Global Shipping Service
Hi Franc, Personally I wouldn't let a third party handle my valuable collectibles. I'd rather keep things in my control. The international shipping costs skyrocketed this year from the U.S. as well. My feeling is that we have no control of this. It's the way it must be from now on and buyers will accept it - they want certain collectibles and will pay what is necessary to get what they want. irv _ From: MoPo List [mailto:mopo-l@LISTSERV.AMERICAN.EDU] On Behalf Of Franc Sent: Thursday, May 02, 2013 7:51 AM To: MoPo-L@LISTSERV.AMERICAN.EDU Subject: Re: [MOPO] Ebay Global Shipping Service Have any of the dealers on this board opted into Ebay's Global Shipping Program, whereby the dealer ships to a processing center for global shipping and that center takes care of everything else including customs clearance?
