[mssms] Upgrading from 2012 R2 SP1 to 1602/1606

2016-08-05 Thread Heaton, Joseph@Wildlife
I have a pretty solid upgrade path, but wanted to know how long you guys would
recommend staying at each level before moving on?

Now: 2012 R2 SP1
1st step: 1511 - stay here how long?
2nd step: 1602 - Stay here long time, or move on to 1606?

Subject: [mssms] SQL upgrade

We have 2008R2 at the moment, installed on my Primary site server. I want to
upgrade:

1) 2012, or 2014? (I'm thinking 2014, just for future proofing)

2) Any major gotchas?

a. I'm planning on doing a full backup of the database first, and this is
also a VM, so there will definitely be a snapshot before doing the upgrade.

[mssms] RE: ConfigMgr 1606 - Subfolders in "All Windows 10 Updates"?

2016-08-05 Thread Art Flores
Yes, I have 2 folders under "All Software Updates" that are also appearing
under "All Windows 10 Updates". I am seeing this in both my test labs, one
running 1602, and the one other running 1606.

Subject: [mssms] ConfigMgr 1606 - Subfolders in "All Windows 10 Updates"?

I got finished upgrading our ConfigMgr server to 1606 this morning and noticed
something odd.

In the Software Updates section, I am seeing my "All Software Updates"
subfolders also appear in my "All Windows 10 Updates" folder in the new Windows
10 Servicing.

Anyone else see the same thing? I guess it proves that the Win10 Updates folder
is really just a hardcoded view of the other?
