[mssms] RE: Maintanence Window Issue

2014-09-16 Thread Vicki Williams
There's also a default ConfigMgr report - Maintenance Windows Available to a
Specified client.

This is probably a stupid question - but is the UTC box checked in the
Maintenance Windows properties for the collection?

Hello,

I am facing one issue. Few of the clients are getting wrong MW(almost 4 hrs
before) and starting installation of patches. I verified and found there is
only single MW configured for all of them but still the clients are assigning
the MW 4 hrs before the actual client local time and starting the deployment
which is set per client local time only. Any assistance on this pls.

Surajit

RE: [mssms] cancel software updates restart

2014-08-23 Thread Vicki Williams
The SCNotification process has to be stopped too. Also, we have had the ccmexec
process restart, so we always watch it for a few minutes and make sure both
processes don't restart. If you get the SMS Agent service paused or disabled
fast enough, it usually doesn't restart. We just had to remember to restart the
service at a later time.

We have only done this a handful of times, but it has worked every time for us.

I think I may be a bit late to this thread... But wouldn't uninstall the CM
client stop the countdown? Obviously not a step to take for a large number of
servers, but if you have one or two that have the problem it is a quick fix.

Note: I haven't actually tried this, I'd prefer you do that... in production.

Tried all but countdown persists.

I was on with Microsoft support when countdown started and he said there is no
way to stop it, but I was hopeful for a workaround.

Sent out emails and ready to take my lumps for unscheduled reboot.

RE: [mssms] Client Version 5.00.7958.1104 (R2 CU1)

2014-06-12 Thread Vicki Williams
How interesting...we had the same thing happen at my previous job. A co-worker
was testing an upgrade to the Citrix client and it ended up upgrading everyone.
We reached out to a couple of people we knew at MS at the time, the response
was that it was normal because it was part of a task sequence so the
supersedence would be automatic. That didn't make any sense to me - especially
since all our clients started upgrading, not just the ones that had ran the
original task sequence.

I thought at the time we should file a bug, but I don't think my co-worker ever
had a chance to.

if you supersede and select to upgrade previous versions.

The idea is to only have one version in the environment at a time.

So we have adobe acrobat pro requires approval and has a dependency on some C++
add in or something (example).
500 people request it
we deploy new version,

Do we want 2 versions? no. we just want 1 version. DO we want to email and
chase people down to make them go upgrade? no. SCCM should do it.

So we select upgrade previous versions and have it optional for a week then the
upgrade is mandatory

Well, in this case it goes out to everyone with C++ on their computer.
