[MSX] MSX Resource Center

2004-05-02 Thread Patriek Lesparre
Hello all,
I'm very sorry to have to do this, but I'm left with no other choice. You
deserve to know the truth...

MSX Resource Center, also known as msx.org, is not what they pretend to be.
MRC makes appeasing promises and statements over and over, which are proved
false or worthless later.
They try to keep up appearances of being a community site, but in reality
MRC turned into a hypocrite, elitist group, who try to cover up things that
make them look bad. Now, because they know I'm right, they are trying to
cover up me.

On the 29th of April, Latok (Anne de Raad, MRC) wrote on the MRC forums in
a thread in which I expressed some of the issues:
I'm going to lock this thread. As you can all read, there is a conflict
between MRC and GuyveR800. We are going to try to solve things internally,
it doesn't benefit the forum to keep this conflict as public as it is now.
I ask everyone involved to respect the lock on the thread and let's clear
things out as soon as possible.

Today, I wrote a message on the forums called Is this how you treat
people?! stating that MRC had not contacted me at all, and they hadn't
replied or confirmed an email of April 25th either.
Shortly afterwards, MRC deleted that message, obviously trying to cover up
their bad manners and lack of communication.

Then I recieved a mail from MRC, that among other things, stated
(translated to english):
Taking into account the recent developments, we do not feel obligated, as
Anne mentioned on the forum, to solve this case internally.

I already had my doubts about what they meant with solve things
internally, but now it seems they don't feel like solving this afterall!
As with previous communications, had I not complained about not recieving
an answer, I probably would not have gotten one.

What are you trying to accomplish with this message?, you may wonder.
MRC has on more than one occasion lied to me, falsely accused me, and
portrayed me as a troublemaker (both to people in MRC itself and publicly).
All I want is a public apology and full rehabilitation.

If I'm forced to, I will disclose the full history of events, but at this
point I will not, as my intention is not to damage MRC, just to make aware.

Peace,
GuyveR800

Thank you very much for this contribution to the MSX community and the
readers of this mailinglist. I don't know hwo you do it but somehow you
manage to get involved in conflicts with several people. I disaprove your
attempts to spread this conflicts out as oil on water. Please stop trying to
involve more people in your personla business with the people of MRC. I said
this more than 100 times: This sh*t kills the MSX scene and sucks all the
fun out of it.

Please, stop it and remember your own words:
However, whether my opinions are founded or unfounded, I've learned it's
best to keep them to myself, unless asked for specificly. In order to avoid
controversy, misunderstanding and prejudice, I will try to enforce this on
myself in the future, starting now.

Lets make one think clear: I admired your guts when I read the mail I cited
from. Unfortunatly I see that you have some troubles to control your fingers
at the keyboard.

Further, I hope that you can solve the conflict you have with some people
and have lots of fun in the MSX community.

Geesh, just shut the F*CK up.

I've only seen your name in posts about flaming, namecalling, attacking
people who actually do something and what else there is that is despicable.

I can't understand why the admins haven't already banned you from this list
as your singe intent is to put other people down, and then pretend to be a
victim.

So please, if it is all s incredibly hard and bad for your person, just
go away and leave others in peace, others who DO contribute to the
community.

Stupid whining brat.

But I really think you should solve your problems with MRC in private, I'm

[MSX] MSX Resource Center and GuyveR800

2004-05-02 Thread Daniel Caetano

  All,

I think free-speech must be granted for everyone.
I think forums can be moderated and so on, but anyone is free
to say on public that did not like to be moderated.
It is not this kind of message which kills MSX comunity. What
kills an comunity is the fear to speak something and to be
attacked without a chance to answer.

It's not good to the comunity being known as an unpolite or
non-democratic comunity.

Then you have very selective memory.
And I can assure you that the cases of 'namecalling' and 'flaming' I
have been involved in aswell were very much justified. Maybe having a
little less prejudice towards GuyveR800 will actually make you see that
there might be some truth in those.

Doing something 'good' for the MSX community (for example publishing a
game or maintaining a popular site) doesn't nessecarily make someone a
better person, who is right on beforehand. Not always being tactful
doesn't make someone's opinions or the facts less valid.

I can't understand why the admins haven't already banned you from this list
as your singe intent is to put other people down, and then pretend to be a
victim.
I don't see how giving critical opinions (which may or may not please
the person concerned) would justify a ban. Not everyone is sweetness
impersonated, or tact in the trueest meaning of the word. Live with it.

So please, if it is all s incredibly hard and bad for your person, just
go away and leave others in peace, others who DO contribute to the
community.
Hahaha...
Seriously, you obviously don't have a clue.
GuyveR800 is an 'easy target' here. The MRC being as big and appreciated
as it is to outsiders, while on the other hand not everyone likes the
way GuyveR800 expresses himself sometimes... Easy for you to make a
judgement without knowing the facts then, eh! Pft, fuck off.

What about - hm, maybe the way the MRC treats their prime forum
contributor and very active MSX user isn't entirely on par? Eh, MRC
doing something wrong? Nooo that would be proposterous! Bah.

Anyways, I don't like the way this is going at all. I have serious
doubts about the way both parties are handling this apparant conflict.
Not very professional. Not at all.

2004-05-02 Thread Eduardo Mello
Hi!

Ok, taking into account I have been a victim of MRC hypocrite policy myself,
I can't help but support GuyveR800.
I have been a MSX user for decades, but just because I decided to port MSX
games for the ColecoVision videogame console, MRC started to attack my
projects on every possible occasion (in addition to insinuating legal
actions against me). The strange thing is those same guys keep praising
projects like Bombaman (an obvious port of Bomberman, even with the same
graphics) and ports of SG1000 games for the MSX (even keeping the original,
copyrighted names). It's obvious to me there is a case of two weights two
measures here.
So I must agree when GuyveR800 says MRC is a hypocrite and elitist group.
IMHO MRC is more interested on protecting the interest of groups like MSX
Association and Japanese softhouses then their fellows MSX users. Just my
two cents...

Eduardo

Hello, Patriek

Just make a jaw-dropping demo and bash all the cock-suckers in it ;) This is the way
groups and individuals used to fight in good old days, and it always was fun and
attracting more people into the scene :)

FAC was bashing C=64 folks, then FAF bashed FAC and so on and on!

And if your opponents don't have the skills to answer with a counter-strike demo of
their own - well, they will prove they suck, and you rock! All the MSX mob will be on
your side, to take over the world :)

Seriously, don't take it so serious. Everyone knows msx.org news are full of crap
sometimes, but at least they do something on almost daily basis. I love your MSX
Bonzai and MEP, but those are static, you don't have news section. No new content, no
new code... And your GB emu is for extremely leet hardware that probably only you and
Padial himself have.

I like your work, and I respect your opinion. If you hate the guts of someone (even
myself), just prove them wrong by contributing a new demo or game of high quality with
your very special message. In this case your opinion will be known forever!

Have fun,

Adrian
