2001-07-24 Thread Manuel Bilderbeek

When i look into this ROM I find the version number 1.08 in it.
Can you confirm this is 1.59?

Confirmed. The Setup Menu is version 1.08.
With this version you can use 32 partitions. :-)

 What?
The setup menu has version 1.08 on Hans' interface and on Manuel's

I don't know what the setup menu version is on Hans' interface.

interface. But in his first email Hans wrote he had bios version 1.51. The
bios sasy he might be able to use 32 partitions, but he will not be able
to
boot from a zip-drive, at least not from an external one. The external
zipdrive can only use scsi-id 5 or 6. The novaxis with 1.51 bios is not
able
to set the target id to 5 or 6. Therefor you must have version 1.59.

All I know is that I have version 1.59 (as you know Maico) and that the ROM
image I pointed to is from my interface.

For the 32 partions you must use nfdisk version 1.2 Version 1.1 or older
cannot make more than 15 partitions.

Okay, but it is always wise to use the newest version... :-)
nfdisk 1.2 is indeed on FUNet.

2001-07-23 Thread Hans-Peter Zeedijk (hapzee)

Thanks all for the sugestions, but I know the map command, but when I was
trying I had only 3 partitions on the harddisk and on the ZIP are also 3. I
think it is the partition type, because the ZIP is made on an MK cartridge.
I will have a look there, because on the 8250 with the MK cartridge I also
boot from a 20Mb harddisk, but there the ZIPdrive has SCSI ID 1, so it
succeeds the harddisk directly.
But that SCSI BIOS version 1.59 looks interresting: I have 2 ZIPS that are
bootable.
Can somebody tell me who could supply me with a ROM?
Thanks, Hapzee

Harddisk Novaxis

2001-07-22 Thread Hans-Peter Zeedijk (hapzee)

I am trying a different harddisk on my Turbo R with Gouda (Novaxis) SCSI
controller. The controller comes with following data:

Novaxis MSX2/Turbo-R SCSI BIOS Version 1.51
(c) 1994-1995 KMcs / MSX Club Gouda
Written by Jurgen Kramer july 3th 1995-
Hardware by H.G. 1993. Version 1.1

Host ID : 6 , Target ID : 0

ID #0 - IBM DPES-31080 Revision 531Q 3
ID #5 - IOMEGA ZIP 100 Revision N*32 N

I have 2 problems:
1st: If I boot I can't get to the ZIP drive. The disk in it I can use on my
other MSX with MK SCSI cartridge, so it containes partioning and data.

2nd: I want to partition the harddisk with as less partitions as possible.
I though the 32Mb boundary was broken with Novaxis, but when using NFDISK
it reports the harddisk as follow:
NFDISK V1.0 by RMt AMs
(c) 5-1995 MSX Club Gouda
ID Vendor Productname
0 IBM DPES-31080
5 IOMEGA ZIP 100

When choosing the IBM harddisk it shows Total Capacity: :34.248, but I
think it means 1.034.248 because it is a 1Gb harddisk.
If I want to add partitions, I can't get them bigger then 31.999 kbytes for
the first partition and 31.998 for the next partitions.
It doesn't matter what I choose in the partition type selector, e.g.:
Extended, (old) PC, (old) MSX or MAK 3.0

Can someone explain this?

Greetings, Hans-Peter (hapzee) Zeedijk

Whether or not you can see the ZIP depends basically on 3 things:

1. You must have the 'Multiple disks' option switched on in the Novaxis
setup.

2. The Harddisk has to contain less than 6 partitions. Otherwise there's no
drive letter available for the ZIP (*). This problem can be overcome by
using a partition selection program, which enables you to assign drive
letters to partitions. It's available on ftp://ftp.funet.fi/pub/msx
somewhere.
The name is MAP.COM (Warning: there's also a MAP which disables
memory management in DOS2 so you can run DOS1 programs in DOS2)

3. The partitioning scheme on the ZIP has to be compatible with that of
the Novaxis.

2nd: I want to partition the harddisk with as less partitions as possible.
I though the 32Mb boundary was broken with Novaxis,

Nope. It has to do with the FAT12 filesystem, and is not related to
the SCSI interface. Only MegaSCSI and the IDE i/f provide support
for FAT16 at the moment and thereby also offer partitions larger than
32 MB.

There is another problem. With this fdisk version you can make 15 partitions
maximum.
When using version 1.2 you can make 32 partitions and thus use a 1gb
harddisk at full capacity.
Then you also have to use the right map.com. The one which is able to use
this partition table.
I recently uploaded this fdisk and map.com to funet.

The map.com is also used to connect to a harddisk which you cannot see. It
is not 100% nessisary (- is this correct?) to set multiple harddisk to on.
When using map.com it needs 3 expressions. the first is the drive letter,
that is the letter only. second it needs the scsi-id of the harddisk and
third ofcourse the number of the partition. counting from 1. As you have to
tell the scsi-id, you can connect to a zip-drive that way. Watch out to
switch the A: drive! This is the drive where de computer has booted from
abnd thus must contain the command2.com When you switch A: partition, then
the new partition must also have the command2.com at the same location on
this partition, the root of A:

It is not possible to boot from a zipdrive with this eprom in your
interface. You must have at least version 1.59.

BTW: even when using 7 harddisks, you will never see more than 6 drives
connected to the novaxisinterface. If multiple harddisk is set to on you
will see the first 6 partitions the novaxis has detected. When multiple
harddisks is set to off then the novaxis will connect up to 6 drive letters,
depeding on how many partitions are created on the harddisk from which is
set as target-id.

Well, it's true. Some games (Galious, Nemesis ) switch on the page in which

But last version of LOADROM uses the available RAM to save the selected

I tend to buy things at fairs, I don't like ordering for several reasons:
- It's expensive (as well the international money transfer as well as the

- It's slow (a package from America -by boat, to lower the costs- took
almost 2 months to arrive)

To cut the crap, it's possible, but I don't like the hassle.

So, bought a MegaRAM and try ExecROM. No problem with speed and
you can run Konami's Game Master I and II and use patches in the ROMs! :)

Problem: MegaRAM is not distributed in Europe.
Only in Brazil (which is halfway the globe).

Oh if it only were produced here... I'd buy it immediately.

Cracked Konami's on harddisk (Novaxis SCSI)

1999-10-28 Thread jam

Hi, Pepijn

Martos is also not working. It seems to load and run fine, but after
the Konami logo, the screen stays white and a beep can be heard.
Nothing from then on. Are there more people with those problems? (It
doesn't seem to be an drive/pathname problem, it loads from the
current directory.) Is there a solution? I'd really like to play this
one from harddisk as well! --
P you can just load the rom-files with LOADROM

Space Manbow doesn't work with LOADROM

Hi, Manuel

MB I'd like to play my cracked Konami's from harddisk. Most of them work
MB fine, after executing the MAP command, but some don't. I have problems
MB with Penguin Adventure, it simply doesn't work (resets after loading).

It works fine using the plain .ROM file and loading with LOADROM.COM
(Note: My SCSI controller is a Novaxis too)

MB And my Space Manbow crack of Martos is also not working. It seems to
MB load and run fine, but after the Konami logo, the screen stays white

I don't know how to run Space Manbow and others cracks They work with DOS1
only. Next sunday I'll meet Martos in Madrid. I'll ask him about cracks running
on DOS2.

Oh, yeah?
I bought my Turbo-R from Japan, that is halfway the globe.
Giovanni and Jurczyk bought their TRs from Europe, that is halfway
the globe.
It's not an excuse.

Can anyone point me to a Penguin Adventure crack that DOES run from
harddisk (DOS2 ofcourse)?
