Version 4.1 supports PLAY #1 and _MDR. Both are used for MSX-MIDI.

 built-in on Turbo-R GT computers. I used one of these commands once in a
 program for detecting the Turbo-R type! ;-)

   It would be more easy searching the BASIC rom for the string "MSX BASIC
VERSION 4.1"
 or something like it... (I don't know the actual string of TurboR).

Screen 9 does exist. It is used in some Korean MSX2 models for displaying 
korean characters. It actually is one of the graphical modes but treated as a 
text mode. Just like CALL KANJI does for the Japanese characters.

Ademir Carchano has the complete databook. In the Jau' meeting I'll get it
and perhaps (only perhaps) I'll add screen9 emulation into brmsx.
   BTW, I scanned the entire YM2413 application manual. It's about
2Mb. Does anyone have space to host this? I can also scan the V9918/28/29,
Y8950 and AY-3-8912 if someone host the files...

  I have almost 20Mb on Geocities accounts. I can put it on Fudeba's HomePage,
if you like it. Just send it to me and I'll put it on line.

   BTW again, why V9938 doesn't have the register 24? Did they think
it was a gay thing to add this register?

  Maybe it was used later, on V9948. When Ademir talk about 9948 he said that
9938 and 9948 was developed together... and if one is compatible with the other,
9938 cannot use 9948 registers for anything else.

Ok, we've heard the difference between basic 2.0 and 2.1 (bigger
RAMdisk),
between 2.1 and 3.0 (SET SCROLL, screen 11,12,13) and between 3.0
and 4.x
(_PAUSE, _PCMPLAY, _PCMREC). but what's the difference between MSX
BASIC 4.0
and 4.1?

BTW, I scanned the entire TC8566AF datasheet, but I didn't use an OCR, so
the actual size is 12.5Mb (34 GIF files). I hope to pass the files through
an OCR this weekend, so next week it should be available.

You know I have space to host this and some others datasheets, the only
restriction is that YOU must create the entire homepage for that. If you
have time for that, you has just "won" an extra space!

I think that, like MPEG3, register 24 was cancelled because it would be
completely unuseful.
