Prompted by a really dumb argument on another list I sent myself a mail
from Outhouse with the text/plain settings set to wrap at 72chars

Problem is, /I'm/ getting it like it's not wrapped at all?

Did you set Outhouse to do just a carriage return or a carriage return
 and a line feed?

No idea, I just went into where it let you set the wrap width and
changed it from 76 to 72. Lot's of Lookout! users messages appear to be
all one line to me but they swear blind they're not.

Re: fetchmail to MTA to procmail (WAS Re: folders ?)

Hi,

On Thu, 31 Jan 2002 Jeremy Blosser spewed into the ether:
[-- snip --]
You're missing the point. fetchmail is not involved when you use Mutt's
built in POP fetch-mail function, even though the names are similar. That
function just brings the mail directly into the folders, it bypasses the
 system's normal MTA/MDA system entirely.

Oops. My bad. I didn't read the original post properly.

$HOME/Maildir/inbox and then want to go back to

When I open an IMAP mailbox locally on the machine, I use:

imap://user:pass@localhost/

nevertheless, mutt is connecting in TLS/SSL mode.

Nah; time zones won't matter, as long as they're correct. If your

Don't worry about the time zone on your server; if you can

I can't say whether or not you're mistaken, since I'm not sure exactly
what you mean, but:

  - *NIX/Linux use LF to indicate a return and line break

In addition, I'll bet a Twinkie that LookOut! doesn't know a darned

Right; it gives you all of that word processor stuff like bold and italics

Getting start with Mutt and IMAP

2002-02-02 Thread William Guynes

I'm trying to get moved over to mutt. I've had it with Pine roles,
it's driving me nuts.

IMAP implementation has me a bit confused. I have 3 IMAP mailboxes,
on 3 diferent servers. If I understand the docs correctly, I can
switch between them using the 'c' command inside Mutt. Typing out
the imap://servername/INBOX isn't working though.

The documentation talks about commands available. They don't
appear to work in the Muttrc file. (Assume, for simplicity, it's a
single user system and I'm making configs in the master Muttrc file)
I've tried both mailboxes and account-hook. The only thing that
worked was spoolfile in {server}INBOX format, but not in
imap://server/INBOX format. However, that assumes only one IMAP
box.

Can someone straighten me out here? The documentation talks about
initialization files. These are somehow different than RC files?

The Mutt and IMAP document tends to gloss over these details.
E.g.
1.1 To point mutt to an IMAP mailbox, write your mailbox in IMAP
 URL format:
  imap://hostname/mailbox

Write it? Write it where? :) rc file? (didn't work, maybe was
using wrong parameter) initialization file? commandline? (didn't
work with -f)

I'm just missing some mental building blocks that the docs don't
cover.

timeout/mail_check doesn't always work?

2002-02-02 Thread Philip Mak

I have the following lines in my .muttrc file:

set mail_check=5 # check for new mail every 5 seconds
set timeout=10 # if no keypress in 10 seconds, check for new mail

It doesn't seem to work correctly always, though. What's been
happening is that I run screen and I leave multiple instances of mutt
open in different folders.

I'm inside the mutt that reads ~/Maildir/. I save a message into the
=done folder. 10 minutes later, I switch to the mutt in the =done
folder but it doesn't show the message that I just saved until I press
a key.

Any idea why?
