[MLO] Minimize/Maximize buttons too small

2023-04-02 Thread G German
Hi All

I find the three button too small and cramped together.

Is there any way to make them bigger?
Please see a comparison in my computer vs. other 3 common apps:

thanks!!

[MLO] Re: Did "custom task fields" ever happen?

2019-09-11 Thread G German
in the Help file I found this:

Assigning Text Tag to a Task

You can mark a task with a specific text tag so that you can filter these
tasks later in the To Do list.

To assign a text tag to a task:

1. Switch to Edit mode in Task Properties Pane

2. Select the Properties tab and open the General section

3. Enter the text tag name in the Text tag edit box.

Tip: A hint appears when you start typing in a text tag.

Tip: There is special column for text tags with a local menu where you can
assign/change a text tag for a task.

Tip: You can use the Alt+T shortcut to perform actions 1 and 2 above.

Note: Only one text tag can be assigned to a task.

Hi George
Do you know how to change the background color for the tasks that are
highlighted when you move the cursor up and down, but have not clicked yet?

I have been looking in all the settings but cannot find it

since the fonts are in bright yellow and the highlighted rows are clear
purple, it is hard to read until either you click on it or you move the
cursor away.

Re: [MLO] Re: Filter on Max Time

Thanks Dwight.
This is clunky and inefficient, especially on mobile.
If I could just group by time could have one single view instead of
switching from a lot of views would be GREAT.
Appreciate your answers and suggestions though!

Thanks for your reply Dwight but with all due respect I was looking for an

(despite no real evidence of actually trying - fluffy blog interviews not
withstanding - I'm still masochistically hopeful.)

At this time I have summarily abandoned mlo and I have not renewed my sync
subscription for some months already. No reason to pay into an ecosystem
that falls apart when I leave my desk and that doesn't deem respecting or
communicating with it's users, even as they express outrage, to be
important. I have stopped recommending mlo to others although I'm not yet
actively encouraging others to bail. I expect my patience will wane on
 that point soon enough though.

I find it additionally interesting that quite a few of the people who
stood and vocalized opinions on my positions or comments, labeling me harsh
or insensitive to the devs and other users for asserting myself and calling
BS on this shell game of red herrings and misdirection, are now themselves
feeling fed up and thinking/looking for alternatives. I need to learn once
and for all that my bullshit detector goes off miles before those around
 me.

I've not yet settled on a replacement for MLO though so theoretically
there is time to salvage this relationship. Though just today I
revisited a solution that I rejected two years ago and found it has
flourished quite nicely since and supports pretty much every platform I
could want and may just be my direction. Unlike MLO, this company seems to
have figured out how to keep pace on multiple platforms simultaneously,
including a web app that is continuously evolving. I'm waiting to see
Andrey's next move but I'm really not holding my breath.

 Hello everyone,

Yes I understand that you upset because public beta testing of the new

product is extremely important to me. The release was delayed several
 times
because our tests indicated potential data loss issues. That’s how
development process goes - you can’t predict everything that can happen.
Sometimes we just want to check on smth twice to be sure that everything
will be ok with your personal data during testings.

So let me update you on the status (yes I know I should do it more
frequently). The good news is that the last week I decided that it was
stable enough and have added a few external testers to the testing process
to check MLO-Android v2 with real data. The test was good and as a result
we discovered just a few new issues which I hope will be fixed soon. After
these fixes v2 will be releases to the entire beta team. And I personally
use my real data with MLO-Android v2 already.
I can assure you that all we are working on right now is Android beta
last preparations, and we will send it to the beta team as soon as we can!
I am sure that you will like the new version as much as I like it already

As for the situation in Ukraine, it upsets us, of course. But it

I'm very sadly going to jump ship to another product. Much prefer MLO but
Android is too far behind now. The user experience is important, as IOS
shows time after time. MLO on Android is just too clunky to be enjoyable
and at times an impediment to its job.

I would happily pay for a wicked product. But hard to buy into vaporware.

pS: I left 5 star review years ago and tend to be very patient. I'm not a

A little Android update - the development is finished and V2 is now
ready for beta testing! When all the tests will run successfully, we will
make the release. Thank you for being MLO user and for your patience.

Keep in mind, that was March 26. I posted a comment in response to the
MLO team, commenting that something like that aught to have been a major
post or update on their social sites or blog. I saw a response from them
today, on April 22nd, nearly a month from their March 26 statement, stating:

A post regarding Android update will be certainly a separate one. As
soon as beta testing starts, we will make announcement with app screenshots
and the list of new features.

On March 26, last month, they said that MLO v.2 for Android was ready for
beta testing. I thought that sounded great. Now we're hearing, on April
22nd that it hasn't started but it's ready.

 Sure, sure, right.

[MLO] Re: MLO - There is no second chance to make a first impression.

2014-09-25 Thread G German
Hi
What version of outlook do you use? I use Outllok 2007 and the linking
works nicely, even links to personal folders (.pst)
Regards

On Wednesday, September 24, 2014 4:49:27 PM UTC+1, Alexis wrote:

I´m using the MLO 4.3.1 Pro (Trial) now for a week and would like to give
other users and maybe even the developer a first feedback as this is the
typical timespan where i (users) decide whether to use the product or not.

I´m familiar with many taskmanagers like Outlook, TDL and a lot Standalone
iPhone Apps. As i was looking for something which syncs continuesly to
other pc´s and mobile (Apple-) devices i took a closer look at MLO.

I like the sophisticated Filter, Automatic Formatting, Context and Sorting
Options. So you are able to display the relevant tasks depending of time
and loaction. The Workspace concept is a real time saver. I never worked
with an taskmanager that autonomously put the tasks in order by urgency and
importance, although i don´t use that calculation yet. The userinterface
appears light considered the functionality build in.

*SO FAR SO GOOD BUT. . .*

In our complex world it´s vitally important that taskrelevant informations
attend the workflow of your task. How easy it is to work when all
information you need is at your fingertips. Often you drag relevant
information in the notes of your task. Or you start writing a memo in MLO
which you later refine with MS Word etc.

That being said i seriously doubt one of this is possible whith the Notes
concept of MLO. I searched for a switch to activate the Rich Text Editor
but couldn´t find it. It´s unbelievable that i can not even underline a
word!! But it gets worse. With TAB-Button you leave the notesarea! With the
secret hotkey CTRL + I you get TAB functionality. I´m sure most users don´t
know this. With CTRL + DEL you do not delete the word right from the cursor
like in 99% of every Texteditor or Website. Instead you delete the entire
task!! I don´t now if i ever get used alone to that huge limitation.

If you drag an Outlook Element in a task is created containing an link.
But when you click on the link you get The operation system denied access
 to the specified file.

I use MLO on two pc´s now. I ex-, imported my themes but it seem that
other settings like hotkeys are impossible to transfer, right? Where are
those settings stored. How can i adapt a second pc?

If you choose manual sorting and reorder tasks manually that order of
tasks is destroyed if Sorting is activated. Even if the tasks do not have
the sortingparameter or that parameter is equal for each of them!

So thanks for reading up to here. What do you think? Did i overlook
something? Is anyone getting happy with the text editor in Notes? Is
there hope MLO get rid of those flaws in the future? Has been anything
announced yet? I would like to decide soon whether to use oder discard the
 product.

 Thank You
 Alex

[MLO] Re: Automatic Flags

2014-08-20 Thread G German
Hi Peter

flags are a core component of my system, I use them all the time (I follow
the Michael Linenberg Total Wrokday Control).
I use always the parsing feature when entering new tasks, for example

buy a new car today 9:30am rmd -fl1

In that way I allocate the flag in one go. I dont use contexts in this
system, just flags.
Regards
Gerard

On Thursday, July 31, 2014 8:51:52 PM UTC+1, JimboDimbo wrote:

 Hi,

I trundled through a search for this topic, but could not find any
 discussion.

I am setting Flags (on my Tasks) more often these days, and thought about
setting Flags using the rather wonderful 'Automatic Formatting Rules' (AFR)
 feature.
But Flags is not in there as a field/icon which can be set. Shame. Seems
to me it would suit the functionality nicely (e.g. choosing an Flag icon
based on the MLO AFR rule set).

Is there any way to set a Flag automatically based on conditions/settings
 in the Task?

In my case, I have some Tasks (scattered about) with a reference in the
Notes to a particular priority task list I share with others. I want MLO to
pick up this text string in the Note field and set a particular Flag on the
Task automatically. It would be OK if there were only one or two shared
tasks, but I have over 100 that I need to track, so having it set or unset
automatically would reduce my MLO overhead.

I can put the request in the Feature Request bucket, but that seems to be
 a sometime/never task list.

Has anyone any experiences/thoughts of using Flags a bit more dynamically
that clicking them on and off?

I know Flags don't make it on to the phone, but they are easier to toggle
than Contexts and show up nice and clearly on the desktop Outline/Views.

 How do you use Flags?

 Cheers,
 Peter.

[MLO] Re: Features In MLO v3 I Prefer To Remain In MLO v4

2012-12-26 Thread G German
Yes, I use them all the time, please bring them back.

Also, it is just me or the GUI feels cluttered and too bright?
Everything is now white!!
I tend to use dark themes but now all the screens around the outline/todo
are in this ugly white which causes eye strain.
Also, it makes it more difficult to pinpoint boxes in properties, etc.
unless you waste time hovering your mouse over things.

I have both versions side to side and the elegance and simplicity of v3 is
SO much better. It too feels slightty faster?

Also v3 it is so easy in the eyes, you can see where everything is in one
go.

For the time being I will test v4 to see if the new features really are
worth working in an clunky, cluttered workspace, but I can see myself
sticking to the small brother of MLO. :-)

 - Importance and Urgency Scales. I preferred to have the old markers
which I can click on the set specific value of 'less', 'min',
'normal', 'more' and 'max' then fine tune the value later if I really
needed a different value (which is seldom.)

 - Task Notes and Properties. MLO v3 had separate tabs for Notes and
Properties. And a section for Notes within the Properties. The
problem with MLO v4 is that when I want to enter a one liner or two in
the Notes by clicking on the Notes pane(?), the Notes pane' expands
and the Properties pane(?) contracts. I have to click on the
Properties to make it's sections visible again. I don't want to have
to do that. I think that if I really needed the task notes to expand
to full pane, I'll just click on the Properties Section Header(?) to
collapsed the Properties. Collapsing the Properties Pane should NOT
 be automatic.

And for some weird reason, every time I start up MLO v4, the Task
Notes and Properties loses it's previous set up like the Notes
occupying 50% of the pane. Every time I start up MLO v4,the
Properties moves up causing Notes to occupy 20%(?) of the pane
contrary to what I previously set up as 50%.

 - Darkened Properties Sections(?). With my aging eye sight, MLO v4
made it harder for me to see where the expanded sections(?) of the
Properties begins and ends. I have to sort of search for the item I
needed as compared to MLO v3 where I can easily jump to the section(?)
I need and set up my stuffs. Sure, MLO v4 have the sections separated
by a thin gray line but it's hardly visible in my screen. I think MLO
should be 'old people friendly' too, but don't enlarge the fonts. The
 fonts are good for now.

 - Start Date and Due Dates or any date related. MLO used to have to
ability to perform mm/dd/yy + nt where n could be any number and
t could be d for Days, w for weeks, m for months and y for
years, you get the point. I had found this feature REALLY useful and
wondered why it is no longer available. Also, when adding time, it
would be nice if I could enter '.' instead of ':' since it is quicker
and easier to enter 14.15 than 14:15.

 - Not related to MLO v3. When I pin the Workspace tab, the tab
contracts to a very blank narrow tab without the tab names. Is this
what it is was designed to be or just an oversight?

Overall, the best improvements for me is the workspace tabs allowing
to let me have pre-defined views, plus the Open in new window
function. Simple as the changes maybe, I know it takes a lot of time
and hard work to achieve this.

 Thanks.

[MLO] Re: Bug report - Hotkeys and New tasks

2012-09-21 Thread G German
You could use input parsing and write your task AND the context at the same
time.

For example:

Remember to watch Ramzpaul video @HomeComputer

or

Remember to watch Ramzpaul video context HomeComputer

and then clicking Alt+Enter will create a new task with the appropiate
context.

From the Help Notes:

Context

If you add reserved words context or @ to the phrase the contexts will
be added to the task. The contexts should be separated by semicolons (;)

The pattern:

What? [When?] [remind[er]] [When?] [context | @] context1;context2
; context3

Examples:

Call Jim tomorrow context @office; @calls

Send report in 3 days remind tomorrow 10:00 @ ProjectX

Tip: If the context starts with @ you can skip the reserved words. In
this case the first word which starts with @ is interpreted as a context.

Example:

Call Jim tomorrow @office; @calls

Tip: you can use the +@ switch to add contexts to the task (not replace
them). Example: “Call Bob +@ phone” or Buy ticket +@internet

On Wednesday, September 19, 2012 3:06:27 PM UTC+1, carshow2 wrote:

This is a small and strange bug, but I figured you might want to know:

I often use hotkeys when entering new tasks. For example, I almost always
use the Ins. or Alt + Ins. to create a new task. I then immediately
type in the task title, then press Alt + C to type in the context. Often,
when I have to enter a series of tasks, I will quickly repeat this series
of operations. What I discovered is this - If I enter the task name into
the new task's title field, press Alt + C, then type in the context (say,
for example, phone calls), if I IMMEDIATELY press Ins. to create a new
task, the new task will be created, but the cursor will not be placed
inside the task title field of the new text. The practical effect is, if
I'm not paying attention, I will immediately start typing the task title,
and instead of this title being entered in the task title field, it will
instead operate as a search and bring up the first task in the view that
starts with whatever letter I just typed. This is a minor nuisance...unless
I make it as far as hitting the space bar before noticing what I've done.
This then completes whatever the last task was that MLO brought up,

There is a workaround. If I type a new task title, press Alt + C, type
in the context, AND THEN hit enter, or tab, or Alt. + 1 to modify the
task notes, then the next time I hit Ins., a new task will be created and
the cursor will be inside the task title field, and I can immediately start
 typing the next task title.
