Re: [MLO] Re: Hotkey question for MLO old-timers for "Insert task above current selected task"

2016-11-24 Thread Smith, John
I thought you were wanting to insert a new task at the top of the current
layer in the hierarchy of tasks - i.e. before the first task, no?

Have you tried those keystrokes?

Left-Arrow take focus to the parent of the current task.
Alt+Insert insert a task immediately under the parent i.e. the new task is
inserted before the first task.

So in 3 keystrokes you now have a new task added to the top of the current
layer of tasks. It works from whichever position you are at, within any
given layer of your hierarchy, including when the current task is the first.

 Hi John.

Maybe I didn't understand your approach. When you say:

"Try
left arrow, (moves focus to parent, and then)
Alt+Insert (creates a child immediately under the parent"

It appears that you are inserting a sub item.

In my scenario, you have a bunch a list of items. You want insert an item
above the top item with minimal steps.

It doesn't seem like we're talking about the same thing.

Hi, guys...this morning, well over a year after I posed this question:

*"Let's say that I have a task that is currently selected. What is the
hotkey command that creates a task above it?"*

...I stumbled onto the solution.

1) Click any object on MLO, other than a task. For example, you click the
border above the menus.
2) Focus goes away from the tasks.
3) Now when hit the "Insert" key, the next task is creative at the very top
by default.

Many people probably do this without thinking about. I've probably done it
hundreds of times without consciously realizing it.

Here we go...
Insert type blah blah Enter, then Shift+Alt+UpArrow...

As a side note, my MLO prefs indicate that Ctrl+Alt+M is the key for manual

for flipping my screen display 180 degrees. LOL.

Also side note: Did you used to use Natara Bonsai? I think it might have

Re: [MLO] Re: Hotkey question for MLO old-timers for Insert task above current selected task

2015-06-02 Thread birdv...@gmail.com
Hi Steve. thanks...Yeah that's been what I've doing. I was just hoping
there was a way to directly open a new task above the current one.

*I hope the folks at MLO will consider adding a hotkey for. Surely I'm not
the only one that wants to insert a task a task that is at the top of a
list. *

And...amazingly -- yes I did use Natara Bonsai. And yes, that may be from
where I remember there was such a command.

Wow...that certainly brings back memories.

I just checked their website...do you know if they're out of business?

Thanks,
Eddie

 Here we go...
Insert type blah blah Enter, then Shift+Alt+UpArrow...

As a side note, my MLO prefs indicate that Ctrl+Alt+M is the key for
manual sort. However on my Lenovo R61, Ctrl+Alt+M+Up also seems to be the
hotkey for flipping my screen display 180 degrees. LOL.

Also side note: Did you used to use Natara Bonsai? I think it might have
had an actual command for insert above.

No, because the exact situation I deal with almost every day is that I want
to insert a new item ABOVE the CURRENT TOP ITEM of a list.
