I have two hard drives, running LVM to make one video share. I'm running ivtv 0.3.9 What happens is a hard lock up. It generally happens when I'm exercising the ethernet hard. This exact same thing was happening to me too with my KT6 Delta. [snip] Can anyone give any advice on where to go from here? Sure. The problem is almost certainly to do with interrupt sharing. In my case it was a problem with the ACPI steering assigning too many devices the same IRQ. I ended up fixing it by disabling unnecessary onboard hardware (eg I don't need 8 USB controllers or onboard sound), using acpi=off (is that different to your acpi=no ?) and re-positioning the cards in the PCI slots. I would check your motherboard's manual since some slots will share an interrupt whatever you do. You can also assign specific slots a specific IRQ in the BIOS. I've also heard that using SBLive cards can cause these sorts of issues - and that's exactly what I am using. If I remove it and turn on ACPI again it all works with no problems, but I need its SPDIF out. Ho hum. Good luck. I've got a multimeter on the cable and I can see fluctuating voltages when I use irsend to try and give it a command so I know I've got most of it working. The only other thing I can think that may be broken is the lircd.conf file for this box. It's one of the very latest grey Sky+ branded boxes and the model number on the bottom is a BSKYB 3100. Is anyone successfully using the Pace rf2link with this particular box? If so, I would love to get a copy of your lircd.conf please. I've found 3 different configs so far and none of them work. One of the other problems with part time channels happens when the last programme that you recorded was on one of those channels. Re: [mythtv-users] Skipping adverts in UK using DVB-T - supported ?
Andy Whitworth wrote: Hi, Am I correct in believing that commercial detection/skipping doesn't work in the UK when using DVB-T ? When I press the 'skip' button during an ad while watching a recording then I get a message to the effect that no marker is found (can't remember exact wording). The channel is setup as one which does have commercials. Or has anyone in UK got ad detection working using DVB-T ? I've tried all of the detection methods on most channels now, and there's nothing that really works properly. A while back I was quite hopeful that the logo detection would do the job, but it doesn't work either. A shame, since it's probably the most consistent ad marker across all the channels. (Annoyingly so, I hate logos) Turn the ad detection off and save yourself some CPU cycles/heat! Re: [mythtv-users] Possible solution to slow mythfilldatabase with tv_grab_uk_rt
Allan Stirling wrote: Nick Morrott wrote: I've been looking into this after having had it take up to 3 hours for a complete run cycle of mythfilldatabase, providing listings for 3 sourceids but only 15 channels. It would appear when just running 'mythfilldatabase' from the command line that the program was looping or taking a *very* long time to get listings into the database. The real solution, of course, is to patch mythfilldatabase so it doesn't attempt to download and insert the same listings 14 times :) Patch submitted to -dev. The problem is really with tv_grab_uk_rt - it gets 14 days worth of data regardless of how many mythfilldatabase asks for. ___ mythtv-users mailing list mythtv-users@mythtv.org http://mythtv.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/mythtv-users
[mythtv-users] The old ivtv bug of stopping recording
I currently use FC1 with the ivtv 0.1.9 driver - I could never get 0.1.10pre2-ck100z working stable enough. 0.1.9 works like a charm except the known bug of it sometimes stopping recording if you start watching a previously recorded show. Does anyone know if this is bug is fixed in more recent versions of the ivtv driver? It would be a good incentive to finally upgrade to FC2/3. Re: [mythtv-users] System crashes when I try to do data transfer over ethernet
Micah Wedemeyer wrote: I've got an Epia MKII-10k running FC2 as my Myth frontend. Whenever I try to do a big data transfer (like SCP) the entire system hard crashes after about 2 seconds of data transfer. However, this only seems to happen when transferring across the local network. I can use wget to download files from the Internet onto the Epia system. My home network is a 802.11g wireless network with a Netgear router. The Epia box uses a PCMCIA Netgear WG511. For drivers, I'm using the Linuxant driverloader, since the Prism54 drivers wouldn't work for me. Anybody have any ideas? You should be asking this question on a different list, but: This happened on some of my machines until I ensured that the network card was not sharing interrupts. Progessive PAL (was Re: [mythtv-users] TV Output)
ModeLine 720x576pali 13.875 720 744 808 888 576 581 586 625 -hsync -vsync interlace I don't suppose you have a simliar spec for a progressive PAL image do you? (I have the Key Digital VGA to Component adapter) I generated one based off a Powerstrip mode to get 1024x576 which gives an awesome picture, but I'm not sure whether it's entirely in spec as the *TV*'s input identifier is flashing in the corner, which apart from being really annoying probably means that the signal is not entirely in spec. (The *TV*'s a Panasonic 36PD30 if it makes any difference) Progressive PAL is exactly the same as regular PAL, but you need to drop the interlace in that line. Simple as that. Kind regards, Mark Wormgoor Hi Just got back after the Christmas break and took a look at this. The problem with your suggestion is that the frame rate goes down to 25Hz, which the TV will not scan. I did a little research some time ago and I don't think there's an official progressive PAL specification but what I found indicates that the horizontal frequency increases from 15.625kHz to 31.25kHz - ie. it doubles. The mode I mentioned above does indeed result in a 31.25 horizontal frequency and thus a 50Hz frame rate: Modeline 1024x576p 43.500 1024 1128 1232 1392 576 577 580 625 -hsync -vsync (In case anyone's wondering, I do have a bunch of 720x576p modelines as well but absolutely none of them work, hence the choice of horizontal resolution.) I tried your interlaced PAL modeline on my TV and it produces a fine picture but I still get my problem with the flashing input identifier. When using the interlaced component output from the DVD player it's not there so I think I've got a problem with the Key Digital converter somewhere, maybe with the sync signal. :( Is anyone else in PAL land using one of these converters with a Panasonic TV? When I was fussing around putting in the new card yesterday, this is what I noticed in the logs (attached). I'll report back what I find later today. Another thing that you can check is the interrupts. I've got a buggy KT600 chipset and the on-board LAN controller will lock up the m/b under load if it's sharing interrupts with something else. ___ mythtv-users mailing list mythtv-users@mythtv.org http://mythtv.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/mythtv-users

I am 2-3 miles due south of Guildford - perhaps you are to the north... Yes, I am a mile to the north. I haven't got the time to roll my own zap2myth and it is time consuming manually fixing every iteration before importing... What did you use to scan and convert ? I followed the instructions here: http://www.ethics-gradient.net/myth/mythdvb.html Although I admit I didn't use zap2myth as I didn't want all the channels in the database as they're mostly a load of crap. I don't really need 10 shopping channels thanks :) I think what I did in the end was to put a couple of channels' data in the database manually (mysql prompt) to see if they worked and then (this was a while ago so my memory is fading) ran zap2myth, saw what the output was, and then hand-crafted my own sql file to load the data. I guess we could do with a better tool to scan and pick the channels... -- Julian Edwards http://www.julian-edwards.com/ ___ mythtv-users mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://mythtv.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/mythtv-users
