Dentre varios equipamentos que o nagios monitora no meu ambiente, ele esta monitorando um servidor na Internet. Meu problema é que as vezes o servidor demora de responder o ping e o nagios já me envia uma notificação dizendo que o servidor esta fora, mas na realidade só foi um aumento momentaneo de latencia devido a este servidor esta conectado via DSL na Internet. Gostaria de atrasar o envio da notificação para que o nagios só me envie a notificação quando depois de uns 2 ou 3 check, a latencia realmente estiver alta. Procurei sobre isso, mas nao consegui achar aonde configuro, alguem pode me ajudar? Desde já, agradeço muito! [Nagios-users] Nagios do not send hosts notifications
Hello, I run Nagios version 3.0.3 on Linux. I have a strange problem. I don’t get any notifications When hosts went down but notifications is working OK for services. Any hint ?? There are various options in the host definition which determine
whether Nagios will send a notification for a host. For example
max_check_attempts, check_interval, retry_interval, contact_groups,
first_notification_delay, notification_period, notification_options
and notifications_enabled. You can read all about them in the
documentation at:
http://nagios.sourceforge.net/docs/3_0/objectdefinitions.html#host
It's possible too that you might have disabled notifications for the
host. Check the host in the web front-end to make sure. In the host
detail screen it should say (amongst other things) Notifications:
ENABLED.
Also note that host and service notification options are specified
separately in the contact definition. For example, the template I use
for contacts looks like this:

The host notification command is usually different to the service

[Nagios-users] NRPE only_from
Hi all, I want to test connectivity from the outside world to my Linux box inside my network, I'm wanting to test before I try and monitor an external box. On the inside of my network I have a Linux box on 192.168.3.245 running NRPE and my Nagios Server on 192.168.3.247 Both of these are connected to a 3560 Cisco Switch which in turn is connected to my Linksys Router then onto my Cable modem. On my Linux box I have in my nrpe only_from = 192.168.3.247 which allows Nagios to gather its stats, however if I change it to the public IP address that is given I get the following errors Check_NRPE: Error Could not complete SSL handshake. In my .cfg file on my Nagios server (the cfg of the box I want to monitor) I have pointed it to my public IP address and restarted Nagios. On my Linksys Router I'm port forwarding to the Linux box port 5666 but it makes no difference, I have even put my Linux box in the DMZ but still no joy. Does anybody know how I can test my Linux box so it looks like its from the external network, failing that does anybody have a test box I can try and monitor for 10 minutes or so. Also, NRPE the line only_from, am I allowed to put the domain name or is it just IP address only. NRPE will never see the public IP of your Linksys Router/Cable modem. The requests do not originate from that device. It may pass them, but it does not originate them. You need to permit the (public) IP of the machine you are testing from. I would be very surprised if the Linksys router supported NAT reflection. The key is that the requests must come in from the WAN interface for the port forwarding to work. If you're testing the port forwarding from your nagios machine (on private IP), the Linksys box isn't going to use the Forward rule for that connection. Does anybody know how I can test my Linux box so it looks like its from the external network, failing that does anybody have a test box I can try and monitor for 10 minutes or so. Test from a machine that is off your network, on the public Internet; a friends computer or one at work. Unless you have multiple public IP's given to you by your provider, an architecture to simulate that locally is complicated. [Nagios-users] Ndoutils MySQL performance problem?
Hello everyone! I'm having huge troubles with Mysql using 100% of CPU at peculiar times. I don't know when this problem starts and I don't know the reason, but when it happends I kill nagios, ndoutils and Mysql, and try to restart Mysql, ndoutils and Nagios at this order. When I start Nagios, the CPU usage of Mysql goes to 100% and everything just freezes with the initials INSERT/UPDATES made by ndoutils. Has anyone had the same problem? I've changed my.cnf to hold slow-queries logging, an have seen at intervals of 1 minute a query runned by ndo that tries to delete service_checks results. It takes about 4 seconds too run. [Nagios-users] Notifications configuration
I am setting up my first nagios instance, and I am trying to figure out how to set up the notifications. I would like to have any service that is a warning send an email, while any service that is critical send a page. I can not find in the configurations where I can set that threshold. Can someone please point me in the right direction? Some options that come to mind -- 1) Create a contact per status. contact1 that sends e-mails only does so for critical services; contact2 that sends pages only does so for warning services. 2) Have one contact but multiple notification commands (service_notification_commands service-notify-by-email,service-notify- by-pager). -by-email and -by-pager contain simple logic to only work for critical or warning respectively. 3) Create one contact with one notification command. That notification command contains the simple logic to send an e-mail or send a page depending on the notification type. 4) ... 5) Profit! This kind of configuration is discussed somewhat frequently on the list. [Nagios-users] Email to Voice
Although I'm new and still setting up how I want to monitor my Servers and Routers, it got me thinking about texts that I receive whilst I'm in bed, I'm so used to getting a text statement from my bank that I now sleep through them, so text alerts are not sufficient enough for me to lift my head of my pillow if there was a fault. Does anybody know of a company that offers email to voice service, this way I get Nagios to send an email to a server which in turn call my mobile and will play me an alert of some kind. Look into using NSClient++ and use it to access the Windows performance counters to get this type of information. Microsoft's support of SNMP is not all that great. If you don't want to install anything on the Exchange server, you could also look into using WMI to get the same information remotely. I'm not sure about how to integrate that with Nagios, though. hi, NC_Net has a WMI query Check built into it, http://sourceforge.net/projects/nc-net/ As well as ability to run scripts/executables, NSCA Support, Performance Counters, and EventLogs.
