I thought this had been said, but it's worth repeating: since r10865, the
test builds have contained the core treeview code. While the RISC OS
front-end didn't break as catastrophically as it could have done, some
things do still need work to restore all of their former functionality.

I see there is a comment about black boxes in there. I get this
problem now on hotlist and global history. Strangely, clicking one opens
a page, the correct one if you get the right blob!

System here r10908 RiscOS4.39 on a Kinetic RiscPC with 64MB.

Netsurf 2.6 works as usual.

If I can be of any help with diagnosing this problem Steve just drop me
a note.

Well, the new little smileyface icon for an individual item
(content/png) is practically invisible - white on pale grey - so I'm not
quite sure how that was intended to work. :-(

Global History oddity.

2010-10-24 Thread Dr Peter Young
This is with RISC OS 5.16 flashed, and NetSurf r10900.

I'm getting used to the new much smaller font size in the Global
History and Hotlist windows (gets a lot more text in), but I have
found that the first time in a session that I open the Global History
the Three weeks ago directory is open, which I don't want.

Is this an oddity here, or a feature or a bug? If it's the last, I'll
do a bug report when I get a round tuit.

With best wishes,

Peter.

It's a bug, as I can't think of a single reason why this would be a
feature :)

I've fixed it in r10902.

I wonder whether the intention was to expand out today's entries but
it went wrong because of the sort order.

Another couple of problems, in r10903:

The Toolbar buttons don't work in Hotlist, Global History or Cookies

The displayed names of many links have been changed

Personal preferences:

Please could the directory icons be green, as before?

Please could the font size follow the config default font size?

That's fixed (sort of) in r10906. It was one of the many known bits of
brokennes following the core treeview merge a few weeks ago. There are lots
of other bits of those windows that also don't work, if you go looking for
them; I'm afraid that there's no prize if you find them all, though.

Could you give an example to explain what you're seeing?

It seems to be hard coded at present; it would probably make sense if it
followed the configured face and minimum size.

I can answer this one; it's a core issue which has been briefly
mentioned before.

With the new treeview code, the hotlist is somehow being validated
(probably against the URL database) on startup, and any hotlist titles
are changing back to whatever the website title last was. Hence any
manual title edits are lost.

Thanks for the explanation.

The displayed names of many links have been changed

Could you give an example to explain what you're seeing?

In the following partial list, my edited link names are on the upper
line, and the new names, generated by NetSurf, are on the lower line.

   dpdiscuss messages
  dpdiscuss : Messages : 2764-2793 of 2793

   iburst account login
iBurst Africa in Ghana: internet connection account balance

   coinmill dollar / cedi
Chart for the United States Dollar and the Ghanaian Cedi: Rate Table

   exchange-rates pound / cedi
Convert British Pounds (GBP) to Ghanaian Cedi (GHS) - Exchange Rates

I don't understand how NetSurf generates the new names because, since
installing r10903, I have not visited any of the links, and the data is
not present in the old Hotlist html file. eg the old Hotlist html for
the last item above is:

   lia href=http://www.exchange-rates.org/rate/gbp/ghs;exchange-rates
   pound / cedi/a/li

The link name generated by NetSurf appears to be the page title so,
given time, will NetSurf fetch the current page title for every link? If
so, it would seem that there is no point in editing the link name,
because NetSurf will change it back to the page title.
