I'm no expert on this, but here are my thoughts. I don't have the problem
under 9.0, but I did under 8.2.

Under 8.2 I used MCC to disable the power control settings, and the whole
problem instantly disappeared. As I said, I don't have the problem in 9.0,
but we have seen so many things here that happen one way for some of us and
the opposite for others, so I wouldn't discount it.

Try it and see - you've nothing to lose.

Hi,

just a stab in the dark, somewhere in your /etc lives the script that
sets this variable on. If there is no tool used for configuring this
variable then just delve in there and set it to 0 (or a ridiculously
large value, say equal to 48 hours if its possible). Im guessing that
setting it to 0 disables that feature.

ciao!

Is this set as part of a security level? I ask because I leave my mailbox

Its been a long time since I handled any linux system but I think the
variable can be configured in one of the security screens in the
mandrake control center.

Or it may not be working perfectly in your case. I have some
installations that it does not work and in some cases in did. I never
did claim any expertise on the subject but I think leaving a launched
application at work counts as a valid activity in your user's part.

Ciao!

[newbie] is it rebooting or what?

2002-12-16 Thread Thought Progress
Hello,

When I xlock my Mandrake 9.0 box and walk away for more than an hour,
when I come back I am logged off the machine. What is causing this? I've
had SuSE 7.2-8.0 and Red Hat 7.0 - 8.0 installed on this machine (in my
efforts to learn more about Linux) and this has never happened before.

I've checked and disabled all the Power Management features. What am I
missing?

Thanks,

TP
