Re: [newbie] Mandriva 2007 DVD not Bootable ?
normally we try and get you to ask 1 question per post, and reply should be at the bottom; (my bad for answering in line) Nicholas Iskandar wrote: Thanks for the reply. I haven't check the md5sum of the downloaded image nor the burned image. How can I check this md5sum from windows? I am a little short of time and I hope someone else will pipe in and give you the whole story, but basically (with out the quotes) you type md5sum nameoffile.iso (changing nameoffile to whatever the ISO is named) it should return an md5sum (a bunch of digits), and that should be the exact same digit string as the md5sum in the folder that you downloaded the image from. if it's not exactly the same string, then the download was not good, and may have to be repaired or re-downloaded. I'm using Burn From Image from NERO to burn this image to dvd. It's brilliant - just right click the iso you downloaded and one the options is burn iso no mucking about with that nero nonsense. Ditto. I did some web stuff and technical editing last year at a place that was Windoze only. (And were getting rid of Linux because of the SCO thang--those fools.) Anyway, there were a few things that were a total pain in the butt without Cygwin. And I would have died without ActiveState's Perl for Win32. Miark Want to buy your Pack or Services from Mandriva? Thanks a lot, nicholas cjs reply it would be a good idea to elaborate a bit more on this problem. The possible problems are: bad md5sums (both on the cd and the iso) a bad burn (where nero didn't burn the dvd correctly) if your md5sums check out on your iso file and not your dvd, then more then likely you had a bad burn. the best way to fix this is to erase the disk (if you are using a dvd-rw) and re-burn the image. end of reply Do you Yahoo!?
