Re: [Nighthawk Lovers] Re: Nighthawk Question... 2003 750 Will not run correctly

2015-07-12 Thread Kurt Nolte
Stan,

In the position marked "Choke on full" in your video is the choke OFF
position. The lever all the way forward should have the plungers fully
inserted on the tops of the carburetors, with only the linkage nubs showing.

I'm not sure if you're aware or not, but the "choke" on these bikes is
actually just a fuel enrichener circuit; applying "choke" just opens up a
set of additional fuel valves after the butterfly, allowing extra fuel to
be introduced into the turbulent post-butterfly air.

So with the lever all the way down, you're adding a LOT more fuel than a
fully warmed up engine requires. It will rev until it simply cannot pull
more air past the butterfly with the fuel on hand.

How's your economy look?

[Nighthawk Lovers] Made some upgrades to Ratbob.

2015-07-12 Thread Allen Thomas
I swapped out the master cylinder for a ZX10R unit and new adjustable
levers, I haven't got the matching clutch perch installed yet. But anyway
when I made the swap I lost my mirrors, so I mounted up some stalks to the
fairing which I braced with aluminum bar stock. They work great no shaking
in the fairing at all now, so a clear view out back. And the brakes are
easier to modulate now, before they were wooden at the lever.
