[NTG-context] Lucida, some progress

2003-08-02 Thread David Arnold
All,

I am running Miktex on Windows. I took my YandY lucida fonts (pfb and afm
files) and put them in a temporary directory, f:\temp\fonts\lucida on my
system.

I then ran:

texfont --fontroot=f:\localtexmf --sourcepath=f:\temp\fonts\lucida
--vendor=yandy --collection=lucida --makepath --install

I then added the following line to pdftex.cfg.

map +texnansi-yandy-lucida.map

The following file now compiles. However, feelings are bittersweet. I've
got something working, but I have no idea why. Nor am I assured that I've
found the proper solution. More difficulties could loom on the horizon.

Have I done this the correct way?

\setupoutput[pdf]

\usetypescript[berry][texnansi]
\usetypescript[lbr]
\setupbodyfont[lbr]

\starttext

Hello. This is a {\em test} of what the {\it Lucida} {\sl Fonts} can
do at 6 {\sc am}.

\placeformula
\startformula
f(x)=\int_0^x f(t)\, dt
\stopformula

\stoptext

Re: [NTG-context] texfont and type-tmf.dat

Matt,

I just read somewhere that this batch compile won't work unless the source
and destination are the same.

Aha! I found where I read this:

[NTG-context] texfont and type-tmf.dat

2003-08-02 Thread Matthew Huggett
Hi:

When I run texfont as follows:
   texfont --en=texnansi --fontroot=/usr/share/texmf/fonts
/usr/share/context/data/type-tmf.dat

texfont reports "unknown subpath ../fonts/afm/urw/[font name]" for each
font listed in type-tmf.dat. Where should the fonts be found?

Thanks,

Matt

Hi David,
With MikTeXt you have to install the font. The easiest way is to use
texfont.
Have a look at the My Way "Texfont Examined" by Adam Lindsay at the
ConTeXt Portal
http://www.pragma-ade.com:8080/context/MyWays
It's for texlive on linux but you should be able understand how to use
texfont for MikTeX. (do not forget to read the part where it is said
that the source and destination files should be in the same tree)
texfont type-tmf.dat --en=texnansi
will not be enought since lucida is not defined in type-tmf.dat
The sample file generated should help you write a proper typescript file.
It is just some hints since I installed some urw polices roughtly that
way a few month ago.
I'm really sorry but I can't help you further right now (no time).
Anyway, I hope it will be helpful.
Good luck ;-)  ,

 Seb.

Hello,

I am using the latest version of Miktex. This compiles just fine using
pdflatex.
\documentclass{article}

\usepackage{lucidabr}

\begin{document}

Now is the time.
\begin{equation}
 \label{eq:1}
 f(x)=x^2-2x-3.
\end{equation}
\end{document}

But I don't understand how to use my Lucida YandY fonts in Context. I read
and reread mfonts.pdf and it makes no sense to me. I tried:
\setupoutput[pdf]

\usetypescript[lbr]
\setupbodyfont[lbr]
\starttext

Hello.

\stoptext

But I got this when I tried to compile.

Bill,

This:

I can't test it because I don't have Lucida, but what happens if you add
this before the statements above:

\usetypescript[berry][ec]

[NTG-context] installation of ConTeXt

After doing (2), you (well, not exactly you...) need to copy the
resulting format file into tex's searchpath and perhaps you need to
run mktexlsr again, so the format file will be found.
