Re: [NTG-context] \showbodyfont

2006-01-31 Thread Taco Hoekwater

andrea valle wrote:
How do I make \showbodyfont display all available families?

The short answer is: you can't.

From within TeX, the only thing possible is to try to load
a font, and see if that works or not. There is no way to
ask for a 'list of installed fonts', so you would have to
iterate through a list of guesses. Perhaps the wiki
pages can help with those guesses, but:

Directly: are there other ways to explore available fonts?

The documentation of (miktex, tetex, texlive, gwtex) should contain
some information about installed fonts.

If you tell what TeX distribution and what options you installed,
then it is likely that someone on the list (with the same
distribution) can make a guess about what you have and do not
have.

[NTG-context] How can I reset the height of a row in \bTABLE..\eTABLE?

2006-01-31 Thread Pearson, Mark (Capita Symonds)
Hello All,

The example below shows two tables. The first table has the height
of its 1st row explicitly set, which then carries over to the second
table causing the content to overflow the boundaries of the table.

My question: Is there a way to either a) reset the row height for the
second table using something like \setupTABLE[r][1][height=auto] or
b) set the minimum height of a row e.g. \setupTABLE[r][1][minheight=3ex]
so that the height is able to expand if necessary?

I found a macro named \resetallTABLEparameters but it doesn't seem
to have the desired effect.

Thanks in advance,

Mark Pearson

Hi Matthias, Hans,

This kind of features is very interesting for me. Unfortunately, I've
LaTeXed movie15 and it doesn't work here (texlive2005 on linux). Since,
I'm a linuxian, I didn't have advanced plugins with my acrobat reader
(7.0.5)...
Anyway, if this feature can be implemented with ConTeXt and can work
with linux, it will surely be very usefull to me ;-)

(The Linux release of Acrobat 7.0.5 supports now _javascript_ animation)

the created pdf with Acrobat 7. The last example in the pdf file is
a rotatable cube, just click with the mouse on the image

The TeX file uses a binary 3D data file dice.u3d, a text file with
viewpoint coordinates (dice.vws), and a _javascript_ setting
light sources (dice.js). The other files in the doc directory are for
other stuff in the package.

Warnings like this used to mean that you had a mismatch where you
have a virtual font (name.vf) file, but that the matching metric
file (name.tfm) is not supposed to be a virtual font. This may be
the thing that is confusing pdftex? Too many (.vf) files instead of
missing files?

Have a look at the documentation: the font is not included, you need
to download it first... I f you want a font that works right away, try

\setupgreek[font=Ibycus,scale=1.2]

Good luck

Great, this works now!

That was definitely the easiest fix of the day.

Thanks a lot.

 Beautiful.

 (Thanks)

ConTeXt is obviously mentioned in the credit box.

And TeXShop I see. But not TeX (Knuth) itself? Where would ConTeXt be
 without TeX? Con't... ;-)

It's a problem of recursion. I consider TeX embedded...
You know, also LilyPond includes many free libraries (from fondu to
pango to imagfemagick). I cannot mention all.
But thinking back again I can surely include i-Installer TeX distro.
Fundamental... Sorry Gerben, I hope I will have another
 performance :-)

Nah, leave me out of it. It would have worked as well with fink or
TeX Live, or whatever. But not without TeX itself and I always think
Knuth deserves the mentioning any time. Me, I am just a copy shop.
ConTeXt is something real and so is TeX.

Yes, Ruby is installed. Typing ruby --version at command line returuns
 ruby 1.8.2 (2004-12-25) [i386-mswin32]
Also Perl is installed. Actually Perl is installed as part of
TeXLive2005. I also installed Lua 5.0 and added the directory to the PATH.

lua is not needed since it's included in scite; you need to move the lus
scripts that we ship to the wscite path (as well as the properties files) and
make sure that the main context props are loaded (in you user props file)

Where can I get these Lua scripts? Are there somewhere in my TeX system or

Re: [NTG-context] page float in columnset

 Vit Zyka wrote:

Hi wizards,

let me go back to columnsets. I try to place a float spanning the whole
page area. When doing that the running text placing exactly one page is
completely and forever lost! Please see example:

-
\setuplayout[grid=yes]
\showgrid

\starttext
\startcolumnset
  \dorecurse{4}{#1 --- \input knuth \blank\endgraf}
  \placefigure[here]{none}{%
\framed
  [width=\makeupwidth,height=\textheight,offset=overlay]
  {Page float.}}
  \dorecurse{10}{#1 --- \input knuth \blank\endgraf}
\stopcolumnset
\stoptext
---

Switching here - page, tops, ... does not solve the problem.
The similar behaviour is observed when a float has one column width and
fit the whole column height.

Is there some solution or another way how to do that and preserve the text?

you were the guy running an ancient context, wasn;t it?

Yes on my machine, not so ancient on an notebook; but your context is
old too since you sent me off-list the same wrong result ;-)

Please, closely look on the paragraph numbering. In the second paragraph
sequence the number 2, 3, and 4 are missing, number 1 and 5 are partialy
missing - total one page is lost.

 works ok here (although i admit that this mechanism is a bit tricky;

i believe; it is one context's advantage over plain or latex, so it can
be a new challenge to decrease the number of bugs...

a solution is to make the graphic .99 textheight

even .98 not ;-) No, it does not solve. Text stops to disappear when
there is enough space for at least one line. But I would like only
figure on the page. Not with one or more line text. Yes one can add some
imaginary empty line, but it is agly (and difficult if some \vadjust
inside a paragraph is needed).

(in columnset sone runs into rounding error problems

Perhaps but loosing text it the worst variant - no error, no warning, no
graphical mark. You can easily overlook such disaster.
