As I had to start somewhere, I thought it's a good start to use the most
 recent versions of

 t-lilypond.pdf from ctan and

I have no idea why this leads to statements like far tool old and We need

But it seems something is wrong here.

I also had my first brush with the lilypond module recently and also
started with the example included in the manual. I don't know if I'm
right (having no idea about module's inner workings) but it seems that the
offending command is

\version 2.6.3

after removing it everything went surprisingly smooth.

[NTG-context] lilypond snippet in the wiki

2007-05-29 Thread Piotr Kopszak
Hello all the lilyponders on the list,

When I run the snippet from the wiki in a slightly modified form:

\usemodule[lilypond]
\starttext
There are some notes\lilypond[clef=no, time=no, staffsize=6]{ \relative{bes a c
b} } embedded in this line.

\stoptext

I'm getting desired result except for the fact that the staff starts
in the new line. Is it possible to obtain the staff in the same line
as the words There are some notes followed immediately by embedded in this
line?

I just downloaded the beta: lm-texnansi-os.enc still has the wrong
oldstyle numerals: should be

/zero.taboldstyle
/one.taboldstyle
/two.taboldstyle
/three.taboldstyle
/four.taboldstyle
/five.taboldstyle
/six.taboldstyle
/seven.taboldstyle
/eight.taboldstyle
/nine.taboldstyle

The lm people have apparently switched across the board; some fonts still
support the .oldstyle suffixes in addition to .taboldstyle but others
(like lmtt) only support .taboldstyle. So the latter should be the default.

I should add that the tfm's for .oldstyle are wrong, even for lmr. So
there .oldstyle is really not supported anymore. Hence...

So the latter should be the default.

It seems that dccontext is stopped.

Not really stopped, rather dormant. The main reasons are:
- Context moves so much, and my system is so screwed up, that I cannot
update to a recent context release.
- There are very few users interested by dbcontext and then few bug
reports or update demands.
- There are some big fishes asking for latex solutions (gimp, kde docs).
- Few users are ready to switch from latex to context, at least because of
install troubles and dependencies.
- I can hardly convince people to use context if the context version
suggested in the release note is not available from context site (it was
before the foundry museum).

I still think context overclasses latex, but its systematic refactoring
and use of emergent/latest software have their drawbacks, for end users,
but for tools depending on it too.

But I believe that with the new context versioning scheme, the debian and
Peter Munster packaging efforts, it can become more popular. Of course, I
need to update my machine too ;-)
