This is then the approach

\setupcaptions[number=no]

\placefigure

Now I am preparing a presentation and I would like to have a figure

Fig. 1 on it.

I have figured out how to remove the Fig. part of it:

\setuplabeltext[en][figure=]

the caption. How could I remove it?

I know something about overlays, but it seems that they can add an image to a
text already placed somewhere. I have no text, I just want to place an image
at arbitrary location at one page.

With simpleslides, you will need to create your own style module.
Currently, there is no documentation for it, but here is the gist of
creating your own style.

Simpleslides provides four overlays, simpleslides:background:horizontal,
simpleslides:background:vertical, simpleslides:background:title,
simpleslides:background:ornament.

The title background is placed on the title page, the horizontal and
ornamanet backgrounds are placed on all pages other than
\IncludePicture[vertical] where the vertical and ornamenet backgrounds are
placed.

If you to place a logo at a specific position, use

\startuseMPgraphic{simpleslides:MP:ornament}
StartPage ;
metapost code to draw/place logo at a particular location
StopPage ;
\stopuseMPgraphic

and then

\defineoverlay
  [simpleslides:background:ornament]
  [\useMPgraphic{simpleslides:MP:ornament}]

This is pretty simple using simpleslides. You would need to figure out the
metapost code to draw those curves¹, and then use them as backgrounds.
Read the details in the other email that I sent.

Aditya

¹ This presentation is made using beamer. If you can find the beamer style
file, then it should be straight forward to translate the tikz/pgf code to
metapost code to draw the background.

Well, for one thing, the module clearly says in its manual that this

shown on a digital projector. They have no interactive elements (such

And another thing that's on my mind: Vyatcheslav, you have been asking

you have never replied (unless to ask further questions). I'm not

Hi,

Thanks Aditya for your reply, unfortunately I posted the wrong part
of my example, where indeed the \placeformula was absent. I have to
tell you that it does not work wit the \placeformula in place.

Sorry. KR

Hi all,

I'm trying out ConTeXt Math. The very most of the samples of the TeXbook

Thanks for reply.

buttons... But I don't insist; this may be my whim )

Unfortunately, I've already dropped the project I worked on (not by my
will), so I loose any interest in it and don't try anything. Thanks for

Vyatcheslav

Btw, I most like small navigation buttons in the bottom ) Good idea
to something alike to Simpleslides.

Well, for one thing, the module clearly says in its manual that this
is not its aim: The module is meant for presentations which will be
shown on a digital projector. They have no interactive elements (such
as buttons or hyperlinks) and no navigational tools (such as table of
contents). Hence the name simple-slides. I have never understood
what these navigation buttons are good for when I watched
presentations. But of course, if users think it's a good idea, Aditya
and I may consider adding them.

And another thing that's on my mind: Vyatcheslav, you have been asking
a ton of questions lately. You have received quite a few answers, but
you have never replied (unless to ask further questions). I'm not
complaining about a lack of manners, but it would be good to know if
your problem has been solved, if the solutions work etc.

Thomas

Re: [NTG-context] get rid of placefigure and startcombination captions

2009-06-26 Thread Vyatcheslav Yatskovsky

Hello

I used \placefigure just for centering the figure. And even if I put
\startcombination directly, won't it reserve blank space for empty
subcaptions?

Actually, I found nice snipped that works like a charm for my needs:

\hbox to \hsize{
\externalfigure[serg1][width=3.5cm]
\hss\externalfigure[serg2][width=3.5cm]
\hss\externalfigure[serg4][width=3.5cm]
\hss\externalfigure[serg3][width=3.5cm]}

...and no combinations needed! ))

Vyatcheslav

Hello,

  Another urgent problem:

  how to get rid of placefigure and startcombination captions
  altogether?

  When I use the following, I get too much wasted space after the
  illustration.

  \placefigure
  [fit]
  {none}
  {\startcombination[4*1]
  {\externalfigure[serg1][width=4cm]} {}
  {\externalfigure[serg2][width=4cm]} {}
  {\externalfigure[serg3][width=4cm]} {}
  {\externalfigure[serg4][width=4cm]} {}
  \stopcombination}

  Best,
  Vyatcheslav

I'm not sure I understand your problem. If you don't want a caption
and don't want the figure to float, why do you use \placefigure at
all? Just remove the wrapper and put \startcombination etc. directly
into your source file.

Well, this is a case where the buttons actually make sense, so I see
why you should be interested. To give you a short description: for the
moment, the page counters we have are all hard-coded into the
submodules. We plan to write a submodule for these counters so they
can be included with any background. This would be the moment to also
include similar buttons. I must admit that I find the beamer buttons
way too cluttered and would opt for something much simpler (just the
three rightmost back go to page foreward), but of course, that's
a matter of taste. Since ConTeXt has good support for such
interaction, I don't think it would be too hard.

 Cool idea! I don’t believe there are many METATYPE1 fonts drawn with
 any degree of parameterization (meta-ness)—are there any besides the
 GUST Antykwa fonts (Toruńska  Półtawskiego)?

  Of course: the Latin Modern fonts are, inheriting from Computer
Modern, as is the whole Gyre family. For the latter you might say there
is no real parametrization, but the Metatype1 sources are not available.

[NTG-context] Delayed expansion of macro?

2009-06-26 Thread Gerben Wierda

I need to use a macro like this:

\def\typeSQLfile#1{%
\startsetups header:margin
 \framed
   [frame=off,
orientation=90,
width=2\leftmarginwidth,
height=\textheight,
align={top,middle}]
   {#1\hfil\pagenumber\hfil\IfSQprojectname}
\stopsetups
\typefile[SQL]{#1}}

In the following setting:

\starttext
\typeSQLfile{Library-procedures/details.pls}
\typeSQLfile{Library-procedures/hlx$requery.pls}
\stoptext

This results in two problems;
1. The pagenumber is the same on each page for a file
2. The file name with the $ in it crashes the typefile argument (file
not found), where \typefile itself handles the name OK.

How do I solve these? In LaTeX I would probably use \protect on
\pagenumber.

Re: [NTG-context] Delayed expansion of macro?

I need to use a macro like this:

\def\typeSQLfile#1{%

   height=\textheight,
   align={top,middle}]
  {#1\hfil\pagenumber\hfil\IfSQprojectname}
\stopsetups
\typefile[SQL]{#1}}

In the following setting:

\starttext
\typeSQLfile{Library-procedures/details.pls}
\typeSQLfile{Library-procedures/hlx$requery.pls}
\stoptext

This results in two problems;
1. The pagenumber is the same on each page for a file
2. The file name with the $ in it crashes the typefile argument
(file not found), where \typefile itself handles the name OK.

Adding to this, it also crashes (not only file not found) the TeX job
if there is a _ in the filename (missing $ inserted).

[NTG-context] Command to perform after every page

Is there a way I can run a command (in my case to recreate an overlay

   Of course: the Latin Modern fonts are, inheriting from Computer
 Modern, as is the whole Gyre family. For the latter you might say there
 is no real parametrization, but the Metatype1 sources are not available.

That’s not what I understood from the papers I’ve read. The original CM
fonts are parametrized, but the LM set is METATYPE1 taken from traced
bitmaps of CM. I.e., you cannot easily generate the 15.7pt set.

hangt een beetje van situatie af (je kunt het bv via setups doen die je
in de header uitvoert)

probeer anders eens

\appendtoks

\to \everybeforepage

Does not work. File not found.

Nor does directly calling:

[NTG-context] Can't change typeface without type size

2009-06-26 Thread Maurício

This seems to be a small bug. This works well:

\usetypescript[pagella]
\usetypescript[chorus]
\setupbodyfont[pagella,22pt]
\starttext
Text on body font.
{
\switchtobodyfont[chorus,21pt]
Text on special typeface.
}
\stoptext

However, if I either remove '21pt' from
\switchtobodyfont or just change it to '22pt'
(i.e., no change from body font size) I don't
get text for the other font.

(This is not specific to pagella and chorus,
I've checked this same problem with all other
combinations I tried. I'm using latest version
in minimals, i.e., did 'sh first-setup.hs' just
half an hour ago.)

Best,
Maurício
