[NTG-context] How to add directory to input path?
Hello, I bet that I have already asked that, but I don't find or remember the answer. I would like to add some folders to TeX search path. Let's say that I have: main.tex sub/include1.tex and would like to use \input include1.tex inside main.tex without having to specify full path, in the same way as \setupexternalfigures[directory=...] can be used. I have tried \usedirectory, \usepath, \usesubpath, but neither works. Well ... actually \usepath works in mkiv, but not in mkii. If I use \usepath then \allinputpaths gets the folder I have specified, but it doesn't seem to work. very often I have to fight (manually break) with URLs like these:

Hi Peter Khaled, I think there is a way to use ConTeXt commands inside verbatim environments, but I don't recall it. I think this is the option=commands option for setuptyping friends. AFAIK this means you need to use /TEX /ETEX around your commands or something, but I'm not completely sure. It seems this only works in MkII, it wasn't implemented in MkIV a month ago at least. Gr. In MKIV one could theoretically fix the (virtual) font with subscript
three containing \sub{3} *** or lowered superscript 3 :)
*** The problem is that you would probably loose monospace by doing
that, but maybe you are not using monospace at all.

or should it take subdirectories into account.

So I supposed, that the specials are for faking or simulating the unicode
character, for example ² - \superscript{2} or similar.
Perhaps, my assumption is just wrong...
I am not sure whethere specials work at all. I am assuming that
SUPERSCIRPT ONE, TWO, and THREE work because the LM font contain them at
the right spot. These are less than hex FF. The others, for example,
SUPERSCIRPT ZERO and SUPERSCRIPT FOUR do not work because they are not
(AFAIU) mapped to any place in LM fonts. I don't even know if LM fonts
have these or not. The same is true for SUBSCRIPT.
If you use a opentype font like cambria, superscripts and subscripts work.
I guess that is because they have these symbols. If you swich to \tt with
cambria, only sup 1,2,3 work.
So, the easiest solution will be to use a (maybe) virtual font that has
these glyphs. Otherwise, using the active character trick is the easiest
option.

if the font has the glyph, you can use the unicode char, bu tit is
unlikely that there will be a mapping mechanism

So the question is: what command should TikZ use to switch to normal
font? I have tried replacing \rm with \tf and then iwona started
working properly. What do others think? Should we request replacing
\rm by \tf in TikZ?

That was just copy-pasted from TikZ source (I have not been asking
that; my diagnosis/question/suggestion was about

I think that it was desired to use something even smaller. In LaTeX there is:
\tiny 5
\scriptsize 7
\footnotesize 8
\small 9
\normalsize 10
so one can choose 4 smaller sizes. In ConTeXt there is apparently (I
never had to use so tiny sizes, so I never checked the details):

[10pt]
[\s!text=10pt,\s!script=7pt,\s!scriptscript=5pt,
\c!x=8pt,\c!xx=6pt,\c!big=12pt,\c!small=8pt]
I suspect that the author wanted to have something even smaller than
\tfxx (or better: 4 smaller sizes instead of just the current two),
most probably that would be scriptscript, just that it needs a special
treatment. (\switchtobodyfont[scriptscript] works to get 5pt in 10pt
regime, but I'm not sure about the most efficient way.)

I also don't like the behaviour in
\placefigure{title}{\starttikzpicture ... \stoptikzpicture}
that has to be surrounded with
\hbox{\starttikzpicture ... \stoptikzpicture}
else the figure gets placed at the beginning of line instead of being centered.
This is what is happening. The pgf code basically boils down to this.

Now since \placefigure internally places its contents in a \vbox, this
boils down to a differnce beween
\hbox to \textwidth {\hss \vbox{\hbox{abc}} \hss}
\hbox to \textwidth {\hss \vbox{\leavevmode\raise-2pt \hbox{abc}} \hss}
So, the solution is to either patch \placefigure so that
\def\setlocalfloatdimensions#1%
{...
\global\setbox\floatbox\hbox% was \vbox
}
or redefine \pgf...@typesetpicturebox to
\def\pgf...@typesetpicturebox#1{%
\hbox{\leavevmode\raise-\...@x\box#1}%\hbox added
}
The redefinition at ConTeXt will break some existing documents (i.e., the
authors will have to manually add a \vbox where there was none earlier).
The redefinition at tikz end will make all pgf code run slightly slower
(an extra hbox for each typeset pgfpicture)
If neither of these is acceptable, then we can have a simple wrapper
around \start-stop tikzpicture:
\def\startTIKZcode{\hbox\bgroup\starttikzpicture}
\def\stopTIKZcode {\stoptikzpicture\egroup}
which will only affect ConTeXt code.

Most of the support is already there (except superscripts and subscripts).
MKII implemented this support using active characters (similar to what ucs
does). MKIV does this using virtual fonts.

For most glyphs the support is already there. Making sure that multiple glyphs
are combined correctly is tricier. We can have an input like $ŵ¹$ and it is not
always easy to determine if it should be translated to ${\hat w}^1$ or $\hat
{w^1}$.
Microsoft implmented something like this in newer versions of Word. See the
developer's blog for more detials.
