[NTG-context] Numbering of sub-header

2009-09-23 Thread Flavien Lambert
Dear all, I am using Mark IV from the minimals. I have a problem concerning
the numbering fo my sub-header. I defined exercices in the following way :

% Titres
\setuphead[subject][textstyle={\bfc},align=left,after=\hairline]

% Commandes
\def\exnu#1{%

\framed[width=1.5em,corner=06,background=color,backgroundcolor=myGray,foreground=color,foregroundcolor=white]{#1}%
}
\definehead[exercice][subsection]
\setuphead[exercice][textstyle={\bf},numberstyle={},numbercommand=\exnu]

A few months ago, when using Mark II, the numbering of exercice was
continuous even if new sujects were introduced. But now, the numbering is
reinitialized when I put a subject. Can I go back to the previous behaviour
?

Sincerely,

Ok thanks all for the reply.

As I understood the controlsequence \completepublications[criterium=all]

means that the cited titles is beeing listed not the un-cited. Therefore
the list should appear according to my example.

So I get in to it with \setuppublications[state=start] and see what happens.

The only sequence that has effect is

\completepublications[criterium=all]

and this shows only the cited titles as I wished but fairly expected.

So this should be clarified on the wiki or in bibmod-doc.

Re: [NTG-context] Fonts loaded

2009-09-23 Thread Vyatcheslav Yatskovsky

Hello Hans,

Thank you for --mode=*nofonts and detailed explanation.

The mode works well and reduces font loading time from 2.281 to 1.266 seconds!

Thankfully,
Vyatcheslav

- you can try --mode=*nofonts but keep in mind that this is meant for
special cases where styles are loaded immediately on the command line

- it will not save much time; eventually we will have opentype lm math
anyway; and half of those fonts are small anyway

- it will result in errors when you don't immediately load a typeface
especially if spacing is being set up

- you need a math font because some symbols come from math (like bullets)

- delaying math setup would result in way more overhead as then it needs
to be set up inside math (and then it happens grouped)

- also, reported problems resulting from not having load a base font set
are unlikely to be looked into

- as i keep optimnizing code, i expect the reported times to drop a bit
   in the future;

- a resident run might save some load time, but this is compensated by
the need to reinitialize all subsystems (apart from a mess)

- computers will become faster anyway and in most runs the startup time
is small compared to the other runtime

Re: [NTG-context] metaobj and luatex 0.42.0

2009-09-23 Thread Matthijs Kooijman
Hi Matthew,

However, I've found that cleaning up your objects when you're done pretty much
solves all my problems. For example, just add a clearObj line to your code
 makes it work for me:
I've found that using save to declare the values as local also works. For
example:

 \startMPinclusions
 input metaobj;
 \stopMPinclusions

 \starttext
 \startMPpage
save a;
 newBox.a(\sometxt{hello world});
 a.c = origin;
 drawObj(a);
 \stopMPpage
 \stoptext

Perhaps this is even slightly more elegant.

current/ /usr/local/texlive/2008/texmf-dist/
sudo rsync -av rsync://contextgarden.net/minimals/current/bin/luatex/
osx-universal/bin/luatex /usr/local/texlive/2008/bin/

Then I try:
david-arnolds-macbook-pro:~ darnold$ sudo luatools --generate
And I get:
sudo: luatools: command not found
Then I tried:
david-arnolds-macbook-pro:~ darnold$ luatools --generate
The result was:
-bash: /usr/texbin/luatools: Permission denied
Trying the context command yields the same result:
david-arnolds-macbook-pro:~ darnold$ context --make
Result:
-bash: /usr/texbin/context: Permission denied
So, there is some sort of permissions problem.

We looked at this:

david-arnolds-macbook-pro:texbin darnold$ cd /usr/texbin
david-arnolds-macbook-pro:texbin darnold$ ls -l lua*
lrwxr-xr-x 1 root wheel6 May 13 17:46 lualatex - luatex
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root wheel 8009384 Aug 13 2008 luatex
lrwxr-xr-x 1 root wheel 49 May 13 17:46 luatools - ../../
texmf-dist/scripts/context/lua/luatools.lua

And tried:

david-arnolds-macbook-pro:texbin darnold$ ls -l ../../texmf-dist/
scripts/context/lua/luatools.lua
-rw-r--r-- 1 33 33 222585 Aug 14 01:50 ../../texmf-dist/scripts/
context/lua/luatools.lua

And see that this file is not executable, so we try:

david-arnolds-macbook-pro:texbin darnold$ sudo chmod +x ../../texmf-
dist/scripts/context/lua/luatools.lua

Now the following works.

david-arnolds-macbook-pro:texbin darnold$ luatools --generate

But this piecemeal approach to making things executable might go on
and on. Can someone give a more universal cure? Is there an entire
directory of scripts that need to be executable?

Thanks.

David

You can try to install context minimals. They will not interfere with your

For installation instructions see

I just discovered another weird problem with small caps when using some

When old-style figures are enabled, the code below generates GEOff

because I don't see why old-style figures should affect ligatures at all
(not that I know anything about these things), and also because the second
line should disable ligatures in small caps altogether.

 \definefontfeature[smallcaps][smallcaps][liga=no]

Did it work with this redefinition of the smallcaps feature?

 \definefontfeature[smallcaps][smallcaps][mode=node]

With \setfontfeature{oldstyle}, I don't seem to get any small caps at all in
node mode. If I replace it with the line that you suggest below, small caps
seem to work well regardless of mode. So, problem solved for me. Thanks!

You can try to install context minimals. They will not interfere
with your mactex installation.

For installation instructions see
http://wiki.contextgarden.net/ConTeXt_Minimals

and to configure mac specific editors

[NTG-context] ConTeXt minimals for arch linux

2009-09-23 Thread Aditya Mahajan

Hi all,

Any context users using arch linux out there?

I have packaged context-minimals for arch linux. It is basically the
first-setup.sh script simplified for arch linux (no platform checking,
etc). I also modified the setuptex script to make sure it works in a
multiuser environment (basically setting TEXMFCACHE to $HOME/texmf-cache).

The PKGBUILD is available at
http://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=30398

To install packages from AUR, you need to install yaourt
http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Yaourt

and then you can install context using

yaourt -S context-minimals-git

(the -git extension is just to coax yaourt to keep the downloaded files,
so that rsync makes sense).

It installs the minimals at /opt/context-minimals

That is great! Thank you for the work. I will try it when I have time. A
package surely will make it easier for beginners to get started.

Re: [NTG-context] Numbering of sub-header

2009-09-23 Thread Flavien Lambert
I condirmed that using MarkII of the minimals, numbering is continuous. Any
hint ?

2009/9/23 Flavien Lambert petit.lep...@gmail.com

Dear all, I am using Mark IV from the minimals. I have a problem concerning
the numbering fo my sub-header. I defined exercices in the following way :

 % Titres
 \setuphead[subject][textstyle={\bfc},align=left,after=\hairline]

 % Commandes
 \def\exnu#1{%

 \framed[width=1.5em,corner=06,background=color,backgroundcolor=myGray,foreground=color,foregroundcolor=white]{#1}%
 }
 \definehead[exercice][subsection]
 \setuphead[exercice][textstyle={\bf},numberstyle={},numbercommand=\exnu]

A few months ago, when using Mark II, the numbering of exercice was
continuous even if new sujects were introduced. But now, the numbering is
reinitialized when I put a subject. Can I go back to the previous behaviour
 ?

 Sincerely,

 Flavien.

 Hello again,

I just discovered another weird problem with small caps when using some
fonts, e.g. Adobe Jenson Pro or Adobe Garamond Pro.

When old-style figures are enabled, the code below generates GEOff
instead of GEOFF. Another ligature bug, it seems -- which is strange
because I don't see why old-style figures should affect ligatures at all
(not that I know anything about these things), and also because the second
line should disable ligatures in small caps altogether.

\definefontfeature[smallcaps][smallcaps][liga=no]

Did it work with this redefinition of the smallcaps feature?

\definefontfeature[smallcaps][smallcaps][mode=node]

With \setfontfeature{oldstyle}, I don't seem to get any small caps at all in
node mode. If I replace it with the line that you suggest below, small caps
seem to work well regardless of mode. So, problem solved for me. Thanks!

does \addfontfeaturetoset{oldstyle} work?

Hans,

No. I have Mactex texlive 2008 installed and I used the rsync

http://wiki.contextgarden.net/Running_Mark_IV

The result is I no longer have a functioning context installation.

I will try installing the minimals, but I'd really like to get my

you should install the minimals alongside (not combined) with mactex;
the operate isolated and can be updated independently and used without
interference (issue the setuptex script to switch to the minimals tree)

Hans,

My impression from reading installation directions for minimals is
that when you open a shell, and if you have your .bash_profile
configured, that setuptex will be sourced. That must set some sort of
path while the current shell is active? Will that interfere with
needing to suddenly latex a file?
