Considering the lack of available text and the small page size, what
do you expect context to do, exactly? It cannot actually rewrite
your document so that there are no widows orphans, you know...

What you have gathered in a single document is a wonderful help for all users:
thank you so much!
This shows also that the sources are full of gems, put there by Hans, Taco and
all the wizards out there: thanks indeed to all these people!

[NTG-context] Bug or feature in list and error with setuptructure?

2010-11-30 Thread Cedric Mauclair
Hi list,

I am using the following code with a recent beta (last week):

  \setuplist[subsection][numberstopper=, right=), style=\slanted]

and the ')' is not slanted. However, it is the following:

  \setuplist[subsection][numberstopper=), style=\slanted]

So, bug or feature?

Also, \setupstructure[state=start] causes the compilation to stop
after lpdf-pdx.xml.

Minimal example :
% \setupstructure[state=start]% doesn't work (lpdf-pdx.xml)

\starttext

\startitemize[n]
\item one
\item two
\item three
\item four
\item five
\stopitemize

\stoptext

In a my thesis, I got some other errors, please see attached file. I
am sorry I could not track down the bug in my setup, but with the
minimal example, something is already going wrong.

Regards.

[NTG-context] Chapter's frame too small

2010-11-30 Thread Procházka Lukáš Ing . - Pontex s . r . o .

Hello,

just an observation - let's have the following code:

---
\setupcombinedlist[content][alternative=e]

\starttext
  \placecontent

  \chapter{ChaB}
Chabbb

\section{SecA}
  Secaaa

  \subsection{SubsecA}
  Subsecaaa
\stoptext
---

The frame around chapter ChaA is too small, it crosses the text. But this
doesn't happen to sections or subsecs.

- Why? Or what the horizontal dimension of the frame depends on?

Well, I only use ConTeXt;-) but TeXLive could use a default Arabic font as
well for XeTeX (a fellow SIL project); surprised it's not there already ...

But then ... I somehow find it a bit weird to have Arabic fallback
inside Latin Modern unless a user requests that explicitely and also

What we need is for new users to be able to say, eg,

\setmainlanguage[arabic]
\setupdirections[bidi=global] % maybe this should be implied by
\setmainlanguage[arabic]

\starttext
أهلا بالعالم!
\stoptext

And get Scheharezade without doing anything else.

Indeed, especially once bidi is fully tested etc, one should be able to do
just

\starttext
أهلا بالعالم!
\stoptext

and get correct Arabic output, with an implied

\setupdirections[bidi=local]

In other words, users need to be able to invoke default Arabic without
doing really much of anything, just as they currently do with LM. Then
users can switch fonts, adjust bidi controls, change features etc.

Since LM has no Arabic, replacement of glyphs is not an issue, and
Scheharezade is simple enough that a default feature set will suffice.

Default Arabic boosts moral, attracts more users, saves time on the list,
helps to focus on bugs and tweaks [as opposed to How can I get
Arabic-script working], is a Good Idea (TM) etc :-)

Best wishes
Idris

[NTG-context] \SetTableToWidth undefined?

2010-11-30 Thread Richard Stephens
Hello all,

I have just noticed that \SetTableToWidth does not work in MKIV.
Simple example below.

\starttext
\SetTableToWidth{8cm}
\starttable[|l|l|]
\NC One \NC Two \NC\SR
\NC Three \NC Four \NC\LR
\stoptable
\stoptext

I get the error:

! Undefined control sequence.
l.3 \SetTableToWidth
 {8cm}

It does work in MKII and also works if you use \tableSetTableToWidth.

Have I missed something, is something wrong or is it just me?

Thanks,

Richard

[NTG-context] itemgroup broken

2010-11-30 Thread Steffen Wolfrum
Hi,

is \setupitemgroup broken in current beta?
Or did the syntax change?

I am missing symbol, left, right, stopper.

They don't seem to work.
See example below, please.

Thanks,
Steffen

-

\defineitemgroup [NumberBracket]
\setupitemgroup  [NumberBracket]
 [symbol=2,
  left={(},
  right={)},
  stopper=x,
  itemalign=flushleft]

\starttext

\startNumberBracket[1]

\item foo

\item foo

\item foo

\item foo

\item foo

\stopNumberBracket

\stoptext

Re: [NTG-context] Bibliography contains references not cited in the text

2010-11-30 Thread Curiouslearn
Perhaps, by coincidence the example that I sent had the bbl file
sorted. But the full file does not have the references sorted. Does
this mean I have to first get the bbl file sorted. If so, how do I do
that?

Why is Hans quiet if this is a bug? He usually always says something
about when he will fix it.

Thanks.

 No, indeed they were not sorted. But I saw that the the .bbl file was
 sorted. I then found that when you add sorttype=bbl as an argument to
 \setuppublications  (so, in your example use
 \setuppublications[refcommand=authoryear,sorttype=bbl]) and use
 \placepublications[] you will get the cited publications sorted
 alphabetically by author name.

 I later saw that this solution was already given by Aditya Mahajan in
 ntg-context Digest, Vol 76, Issue 141   Date:   29 oktober 2010, Message
 4, Subject:  sorttype for bibtex

 On top of that, this is also documented in the bib module's manual.

 Except that doesn't seem to work with the bibliography being placed
 using \placepublications in its own chapter in the backmatter. A
 similar issue was reported in 2006

 http://www.mail-archive.com/ntg-context@ntg.nl/msg15442.html

 but the solution given then involved writing
 \placepublications[criterium=all].

[NTG-context] \registerparoptions ! Extra \else

2010-11-30 Thread Alan BRASLAU
Help!

There is an error with \registerparoptions.

Of course, I have not (yet) come up with a minimal example as this depends on
some condition that not obvious. Looking into the code here (in anch-
pos.mkiv?) does not get me any further.

! Extra \else.
\registerparoptions ...gisterparoptions \fi \else
  \dodoregisterparoptions

everypar ...stponedbookmark \registerparoptions
  \flushsyncpositions

\ejectdummypage ...vmode \ejectinsert \fixedspace
  \vfill \gotonextpage \fi
\executepagebreakhandler ...cification \endcsname

I can work harder at stripping my code down to a minimally broken example if
this be necessary in order to debug... Please let me know.

 See example below, please.

You need a number as item symbol for the left, right and stopper keys
and the symbol isn’t shown because you overwrite it in your example with

  \startNumberBracket[1]

Re: [NTG-context] Problem with context.startsection

2010-11-30 Thread Procházka Lukáš Ing . - Pontex s . r . o .

... Thanks, that was really silly mistake of mine - I was Luaing the original ctx code
so I forgot to enclose the ttt into the context(ttt); that was the problem.

Braces were OK - statement:

context.startsection({title = ti, list = li})

may be shortened to:

context.startsection{title = ti, list = li}

- that's OK in Lua.

On Tue, 30 Nov 2010 22:38:41 +0100, Peter Münster pmli...@free.fr wrote:

context.startsection{title = ti, list = li} % - but this is wrong

Use -- instead of % in lua mode.

(I wrote % this to the mail only.)

 ttt

Should be: tex.prin

Or: context(ttt)

Cheers, Peter

Lukas
