[NTG-context] Tagged PDF

2013-08-15 Thread D. K.
Hi everyone,

in my quest to generate tagged pdf's that meet nowaday's accessibility
requirements (it seems to me that tags are the major hurdle when using
tex), I came around context.

There is a very interesting article on how to generate tagged pdf's with
context mkiv.
http://www.tug.org/TUGboat/tb31-3/tb99hagen.pdf

A quick sample run of the examples shown in the above pdf with context
however doesn't yield a nice result. Checking with the pdf accessibility
checker
http://www.access-for-all.ch/en/pdf-lab/pdf-accessibility-checker-pac.html
for example, the generated pdf fails completely and is not considered to be
tagged.

Could someone point me in the right direction? Is there any kind of
tutorial or minimal example from where I could work on? Are there any
(hidden) options that need to be set in order to activate tagging support?

kind regards

Tagging is part of PDF/A, but the interface is the same.

pdf/a-1a:2005 and pdf/a-1b:2005 are the used 'format' names for
PDF/A. Never used it myself, so I can't tell much about it.

[NTG-context] SOLVED: too many open files

Every line (system) of notes is included as its own PDF to leave the page

it sums up...

I guess ConTeXt keeps every externalfigure open, since I get this error:

It works with songbook excerpts (some 30 songs). I don't understand if the
error is really from LilyPond or from LuaTeX (I guess the former), and how I
would be able to increase the number of possible files (in bash on OSX 10.8.4).
So probably it's more a general Unix question than a ConTeXt one, but anyway...

the system path. I add the setuptex command at the end of .bashrc or
.bash_profile. This makes it accessible from the terminal, but not all
programs read in .bashrc or .bash_profile. You should add ConTeXt to your
editor's path, if possible.

I updated my ConTeXt installation today and now it refuses to work
 with TextMate and TeXworks.

This problem is not critical as I can use TextMate/TeXworks as editor
and compile on command line in Terminal, but it is a bit of a
nuisance not to be able to use the typesetting command in the editor.
So any help is highly appreciated.

 Hi Mari,
I cannot help you with your particular problem other than suggesting to
 give TeXShop a try.
I have used it for many years and it has never given me any problem
 whatsoever.

Just to make sure, I updated the standalone today (beta with all goodies)
 and again no problem.

 Best regards,
 Robert Blackstone

Assuming that you use math consistently ...

\definefontfallback [mathdigits] [dejavusansmonobold]
[0x06F0-0x06F9] [check=yes,force=yes,offset=digitsbold]

\stoptypescript

\usetypescript [mathdigits][arabicindic]

\starttypescript [math] [xits] [name]

\definefontsynonym[MathRoman][file:xits-math.otf][features=math\mathsizesuffix,goodies=xits-math,fallbacks=mathdigits]
\stoptypescript

\setupbodyfont[dejavu]

\starttext

$3+2=5 \quad \bf 3+2=5$

\stoptext

I'm not sure yet how to organize such things in a predefined typescript.

In the next beta you can do this (bidi-006.tex):

\usetypescriptfile[mathdigits]

\usetypescript [mathdigits] [xits-dejavu] [arabicindic]

\setupbodyfont[dejavu]

\starttext
$3+2=5 \quad \bf 3+2=5$
\stoptext

Of course we need to add more combinations.
