[NTG-context] Distances between chapter and setion titles and text

2014-08-13 Thread Robert Blackstone
Dear list,

Is it possible, in mkiv, to fine-tune the distance between a chapter head and a
section head, between the end of a section and the following section head, and
between a section head and the beginning of the text?

My problem is the following:
In the revision of a thesis, to economize on processing times, I have done all
corrections in the bodymatter, or even parts of it, using the setups of the
entire project. But when I now add the front matter these above-mentioned
distances have slightly increased, by 3 to 5 mm, with a rather devastating
effect on the precise placement of large floats. At the beginning of a new
chapter the difference is one textline (double line spacing), which does not
seem a big deal but with nearly 500 pages of text it leads to nasty results.

In my setups I have for the heads
\setuphead[chapter][
header=empty,
page={yes,header,right},
number=yes,
alternative=middle,
style=\tfa \bf,
after={\blank[0.5cm]},
]

en
\setuphead[section][
style=tfa,
number=yes,
alternative=left,
indentnext=no
]

Changing after={\blank[0.5cm]} to after={\blank[0.1cm]} or omitting it
altogether did not have any effect.

If the culprit is to be found in the Frontmatter, or its specific setups, what
should I look for?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Best regards,

Robert Blackstone___

[NTG-context] Class diagram in Ctx?

2014-08-13 Thread Procházka Lukáš Ing . - Pontex s . r . o .

Hello,

I'd like to create a class diagram (or hierarchy chart) with ConText,
something like:

[class A]
  |  \
  V   V
[class B]  [class C]

Could anyone hint me how to start? Or which module to use? TikZ?

- An initial hint would be appreciated, I'll study next...

Thanks in advance,

Lukas

[NTG-context] Footnote Placement in Columnsets

2014-08-13 Thread David Baßler
Dear all,

a couple of days ago I asked about placing footnotes in columnsets in only the
first column.
I haven't received an answer and found this
http://skryb.info/m/ntg-context%40ntg.nl/45C100C2.5050500%40econ.muni.cz on
Google, which is basically the same question and also unanswered. So I just
thought I try again:

I use a two columns columnsets layout and want to place the footnotes in the
first column only.
I tried
\setupnotation[footnote][
location=firstcolumn]

but this didn't work as expected it puts the footnotes into both columns.
If it is not possible to do this, I need to know.
I am using the current version of ConTeXt that comes with the MacTeX-2014
Distribution.

Cheers,
David

PS: I am new to mailing lists like this, so I wasn't sure if I should post it
again or wait. I'm sorry if I am too impatient.

[NTG-context] 8th ConTeXt Meeting, Bassenge-Boirs, Belgium

2014-08-13 Thread Taco Hoekwater
Hi all,

The main news compared to my previous message is that there is now a
preliminary program online:

  http://meeting.contextgarden.net/2014/pr2014.pdf

If you have not checked it out yet, have a look, see if there is anything that
draws your fancy, and perhaps reconsider registering for the meeting.

In any case, I wanted to remind you that registration for the 8th International
Context Meeting is still open.

 http://meeting.contextgarden.net/2014

We are making a return visit to Jan @ 't Sjetootje, the same place where we had
our fifth meeting in 2011.

Those of you that were present in 2011 will remember that our host Jan was
constantly busy cooking wonderful food for us. To celebrate our return visit,
the theme for this year's meeting is:

   ConTeXt Cookery

which means that we are planning for talks and tutorials on both culinary and
programming recipes and / or cookbooks. Jan has promised to take care of a
hands-on culinary workshop :)

Further, we can promise a working internet connection, and also that there will
not be any completely underground full day excursions.

As it happens, Bassenge-Boirs is also the birth place of the official ConTeXt
Group, so in a way we are going back to our roots. Even if you cannot join us
for the meeting, please consider becoming a member (if you are not already).
The meeting proceedings are going to be published as the next issue of the
Context Group journal, but there are more advantages to membership. See

 http://group.contextgarden.net/

for more information about the ConTeXt Group.

We are looking forward to meeting you in Bassenge,

Best regards,

Taco Hoekwater

[NTG-context] Subformula numbering problem

2014-08-13 Thread Maggyero
The second formula has NO NUMBER (example taken from the ConTeXt Garden's
Math/Display page):

\starttext

\startsubformulas[eq:1]

\placeformula[eq:first]
\startformula
c^2 = a^2 + b^2
\stopformula

\placeformula[eq:second]
\startformula
c^2 = a^2 + b^2
\stopformula

\stopsubformulas

Formula (\in[eq:1]) states the Pythagora's Theorem twice, once in
(\in[eq:first]) and again in (\in[eq:second]).

 current version: 2014.07.30 10:31

A minimal example follows:

\definevimtyping[cpp][syntax=cpp]

\starttext
\startcpp
#include iostream

\stopcpp

Sadly, I'm not a ConTeXt nor a lua expert so maybe anybody can help?

A quick work around is to add

  numberlocation=left

in your setup. For example:

\usemodule[vim]

\setupvimtyping
  [
numbering=yes,
numberdistance=1em,
numberlocation=left,
  ]

\definevimtyping[cpp][syntax=cpp]

\starttext
\startcpp
#include iostream

int main() {
std::cout  Hello, world!  std::endl;
}
\stopcpp
\stoptext

numberlocation=left is the default anyways, so I don't know why the bug
occurs.

Could be a inheritance problem (maybe wrong parent setting) and vimtyping
doesn’t fall back to the default syntaxhighlightingparameter values.

Was much simpler. A missing % before a comment!

https://github.com/adityam/filter/commit/e2608a7c8a83ec190f5e269136cb1f5e96cd10c3

This has been around for around 2 years, and I think that a change in the
way the linenumbering mechanism works brought this out.

I will push an update to vim soon.

[NTG-context] \resetsetups

2014-08-13 Thread Rik Kabel

Dear list,

In a number of notes (recent and in the list archive) I have seen
\resetsetups, used (always) as in a block of code like this from Gerben
Wierde:

   \startsetups chapter:before
  \page[left]
  \noheaderandfooterlines
  \startalignment[left,nothyphenated]
\startnarrower[4*left]
\em \getbuffer[chapter:quote]
\stopnarrower
  \stopalignment
  \resetsetups[quote:text]
  \page[right]
  \noheaderandfooterlines
  \blank[force,2*big]
   \stopsetups

What is the purpose of \resetsetups in this code? I see no different
result without it, and all I can determine from list and document
searches is that this is a vestigal command from x-fo processing.

Re: [NTG-context] Class diagram in Ctx?

2014-08-13 Thread Thangalin
Hi,

Another option is to use graphviz (dot) to create the graph as an SVG
file and then include that graphic. For example:

-- graph.dot --
digraph CL {
  Home - {Summary Account};
  Summary - {Proposal Resources Hypothesis Discuss};
  Discuss - {Support};
}

-- Run GraphViz --
dot -Tsvg graph.dot  graph.svg

-- Reference in ConTeXt --
\externalfigure[graph.svg]

Not as clean as embedded TikZ code, but the syntax is quite terse.
