I changed the implementation so that nesting is better supported ...

[NTG-context] streams
Hello all,
the streams module could help typesetting my current work but all the
examples fail in mkiv. (The output from mkii is impressive, though.)
The snippets I tried are from the comments of

the culprit but I don't really know where to start looking because the

Hi again, when using Antykwa Toruńska I have problems getting dashes rights. Example: -0 \usetypescript[antykwa-torunska] \setupbodyfont[antykwa] \starttext asdf -- adsf\par asdf --- adsf\par asdf--asdf\par asdf---asdf\par \stoptext -0 In output here (MkIV as of yesterday) the double/triple dashes are not concatenated to en/em dashes. [NTG-context] Transliterator module, 2nd revision
Hi again, the transliteration module has been reworked following sunday's discussion on the list. The table groups now come in separate files and are loaded / created only on demand. The module now provides a \[start|stop]transliterate environment, credits for it go to Wolfgang. The most valuable suggestion came from Thomas: the former substitution functions that were using string.gsub() have been entirely replaced by LPeg, which proves to be surprisingly fast. (Under some circumstances, it is faster than not transliterating at all.) I have opened a bitbucket account in order to not to clutter the mailing list with archives. Yes, that did it. I thoroughly confused the notion of “lpath” in
xml-mkiv.pdf.

Well, what I meant was that I thought the second parameter of
\xmlinclude to be a path within the include-file, not the main document.
The xpath--lpath relation is clear enough, I just got this one wrong
because I read lines 111--115 of lxml-ini.mkiv first but the definition
in xml-mkiv only later …
To actually make use of inc.xml in the current document, perhaps
\xmlprocessfile is what you are after?

That's actually what troubled me in the first mail of this thread. I
don't think \xmlprocessfile is intended to include files this way.
xml in mkiv is still somewhat experimental although the commands and
interfaces will stay; the current implementation is the second one
and has the advanage that it stays closer to xpath and also is more
roundtrip safe (tables of contents and so); i expect further
improvements
Will there be documentation on the lua internals? It is tedious tracing
things down all the way through ConTeXt - lxml-ini - lxml-tex -
lxml-aux to find out (or not) what they're supposed to do.

Is there anybody who could provide a working example of \xmlinclude or
reveal The Right Way of Including XML to me?

[NTG-context] Where to put a module?
Dear listmates, a while ago I made some lua tables to aid myself in transliteration of various scripts. I thought this could be of general interest so I built a module from it and threw in some source documentation and a tiny manual, too. Right now it contains modes for Cyrillic, Glagolitic and Greek scripts, older variants included, full ISO 9 support, and two transcription modes as well. (There's a showcase of examples in the manual.) It allows global setups and local adjustments. It splendidly works for me, but maybe somebody wants to review it before I post it on the list, so whom should I send it to? You're right again, I measured 33% shorter execution time in an extreme
case with string.gsub; done!
* It is common in ConTeXt to also provide a \starttransliteration
... \stoptransliteration pair (but there is no requirement).
I noticed that and of course I would like to provide an environment but
until now I had no luck implementing it; I'm stuck at the following:

\xmlinclude works like this: take the file that is pointed to by
the named attribute #3 from the node pointed to by lpath #2 in

Yes, that did it. I thoroughly confused the notion of “lpath” in
xml-mkiv.pdf.
But I have no idea what then happens with the generated tree :-/
It's processed on the spot where afile file=incfile/ is found. The
document should contain \xmlprependsetup{xml:afile} somewhere, too
(lxml-ini.mkiv, line 115).
To actually make use of inc.xml in the current document, perhaps
\xmlprocessfile is what you are after?

don't think \xmlprocessfile is intended to include files this way.

[NTG-context] including xml files
Hi all,
what is the recommended way of including an xml tree from one file in
another? Right now I'm stuck with the following
\startxmlsetups xml:inc
\xmlprocessfile{inc}{\xmlatt{#1}{file}}{}
\stopxmlsetups
combined with inc file=inc.xml/ in the xml source. But although the
content of inc.xml is processed the headings it contains don't show up
in the toc (there _is_ an entry for them and a page reference as well
but no title).
Personally, I'd prefer some include method like file entities (!ENTITY
inc SYSTEM inc.xml) but they don't seem to work.

Good evening, how do I retrieve an author's (or editor's) full name in the correct order (little endian: first name(s) -- surname) from a bib entry? I can do stuff like \getcitedata[author1] but that does leave me with only one of many. I'm convinced the answer lies somewhere hidden in bibl-tra.mkiv inside \complexbibdef and particularly \specialbibinsert but I can't grasp the relevant part (getting the list) of it. Well, it works and at the same time it doesn't work: the second argument
in \getcitedata[title][\@@p...@crossref]to\mytitle, that is
\@@p...@crossref, has no effect. I replaced it with the literal key of
the referenced entry and its title was correctly stored in \MYtitle.
Typing \@@p...@crossref somewhere else resolves to the the correct key.
(Putting an \expandafter at some place before it doesn't help either.)
I'll attach the example file I'm working with; it's only part of the
whole bib style I'm preparing so expect to encounter random braces in
the output.

[NTG-context] Adding Items to Bibliography
Hi all, yesterday I tried to use some BibTeX bibliography that I made earlier for use with biblatex but I very soon ended up converting a garbled .bbl to proper \[start|stop]publication format. So my first question is, whether this, without BibTeX, is the canonical way to typeset bibliographies in ConTeXt? The wiki is quite unclear about this and bibmod-doc deals with BibTeX, too. Or is everyone working in secret with the MlBibTeX final release and those 8-Bit phenomena from the dark past are already solved? The second question: where would I begin if I wanted to setup (a) an author-title format for \cite[] (I found no \bibgetvarX function to query the publication title), and (b) substitution of consecutive identical authornames with dashes (or idem, if that matters) in the publications list. Thanks in advance for any clarification on this matter, bibliography support is essential for me. Now the file is processed and I get a pdf file containing the words sortkeys: n id entry and an hrule beneath that. As I'm not (yet) familiar with the control sequences used in the file as well as parts of its syntax, I can only guess that there's a table missing from \startxmlsetups bibtex:one \starttabulate etc.. [NTG-context] colors without \definecolor
Hi all,
I understand that in order to use a color with \color[somecolor]{colored
text} I first have to \definecolor[somecolor][r=.4,g=0,b=1]. Currently
I'm trying to do automated colorizing with the help of some lua code and
I'd like to make up rgb vectors on the spot without having to
\definecolor them first, e.g. something like \color[r=.4,g=0,b=1]
{colored text}. Is there a way to achieve this in mkiv? (Right now I'm
assigning new rgb values to the same color name whenever the function
is called that concatenates the next \color[]{} statement. This seems a
bit verbose and hacky to me.)

[NTG-context] Blank at beginning of page
Hi, being new to ConTeXt I'd have loads of questions but I'd like to start with what puzzles me most: any \blank[] command that happens to be at the beginning of a page seems to be ignored. For instance in a document as follows \showframe \starttext \blank[5*big] Some text. \stoptext the string Some text. will be placed on the very top of the text field, regardless of what \blank[]s precede it. I read a good deal of the documentation but couldn't make out the cause nor a workaround. Right now I even consider to put headings inside a float or something like that in order to make their [before=\blank[someblank]] option effective.
