[NTG-context] Text in Margin

2024-02-19 Thread Jeroen
In a textbook I am looking to place a large left margin at every page of
each chapter. At left printed pages a left margin and at right printed
pages a right margin, so like a double sided construction. In this margin I
would like to place:

1. Keywords and small descriptions to emphasize some text from the textflow
2. Figures
3. An expansion of a table that is placed in the main textflow but that
needs to cover a wider range then the text area so it expands into the
margin

What is the the easiest way to achieve this?

 To show the complete text you have to increase the backspace.

 \setuplayout[backspace=3.5cm]

Thanks Wolfgang. That did it. =)

 Hey Wolfgang. I took a look at the command reference you linked me to
 and it unfortunately isn't descriptive enough for me.

 All I want to do is to make the font small, italicized, and not start
 off the side of the page like it is now.

 I'm using the following. The colours are fine, but the rest is not:

 \setupmargindata[
style={smallitalic\switchtobodyfont[3pt]}]

 \setupinmargin[
background=color,
color=colour_text,
backgroundcolor=colour_page]

Make next time a complete example with some text.

\setupmargindata
  [inmargin]
  [style={\switchtobodyfont[8pt,ss]},
   color=red]

\setupmarginframed
  [inmargin]
  [background=color,
   backgroundcolor=yellow]

\starttext
\input knuth
\inmargin{\input ward }
\input tufte
\stoptext

Hey Wolfgang. It still isn't italicized and it is starting a little bit
off of the side of the page. For at least the italicization, I tried the
following and ConTeXt seems to just ignore the italic flag:

\setupmargindata
  [inmargin]
  [style={\switchtobodyfont[7pt,it]},
   color=colour_text]

[NTG-context] Text in margin

2011-11-27 Thread Kip Warner
Hey list,

I am trying to get text to appear in the margin, small, and italicized.
The following doesn't appear to effect its size or italicization at all:

\setupinmargin[
background=color,
color=colour_text,
backgroundcolor=colour_page,
bodyfont=3pt,
before={\switchtobodyfont[3pt]}
style=\ss\tfx\setupinterlinespace]
