hm, normally you can do that in a parent node (or you can backtrack and 
call it then)


another option is to save the reference (#1)

\def\MyFunnyBuffer{#1}

and then later

\xmlflush\MyFunnyBuffer



\xmlfirst{#1}{description}

and such so there is no need for buffers; in fact, the whole file is
buffered and you can consider each element to be a buffer

but why do you need a buffer? you can explicitly flush content
