[nysbirds-l] Prothonotary Warbler at Connetquot River State Park (Suffolk Co.)
A singing male Prothonotary Warbler was found this morning (approx. 9:00AM) at Connetquot River State Park. The bird was singing in the Oaks on the west side of the river just north of the fish hatchery parking lot. The bird appeared to be moving north along the river and after a short period ceased singing altogether. A poor but recognizable photo is on my Flickr site. Sue and I spent a few weeks in early May birding in Arizona. Highlights of the trip included Tufted Flycatcher, Flame-colored Tanager, Black-capped Gnatcatcher, and Thick-billed Kingbird. A few photos from our trip are included on my Flickr site. [nysbirds-l] Muttontown preserveNassau County - Kentucky Warbler
This morning around 8:30 Bobby Rosetti and I heard a Kentucky warbler singing from dense shrubery in the southern end of the preserve. We never saw it, and apparently it was staying low. We heard it from trail 7(per the reserve map), the main paved east west path starting at the route 106 entrance. The bird was actually south of the trail, well before the walled garden, not really accessible from any path. Also heard or seen were some of the breeders: YB Cuckoo, Blue-winged Warbler, Scarlet Tanagers among others -- NYSbirds-L List Info: http://www.NortheastBirding.com/NYSbirdsWELCOME http://www.NortheastBirding.com/NYSbirdsRULES http://www.NortheastBirding.com/NYSbirdsSubscribeConfigurationLeave.htm ARCHIVES: 1) http://www.mail-archive.com/nysbirds-l@cornell.edu/maillist.html 2) http://www.surfbirds.com/birdingmail/Group/NYSBirds-L 3) http://birdingonthe.net/mailinglists/NYSB.html Please submit your observations to eBird: http://ebird.org/content/ebird/ --

[nysbirds-l] Black-bellied Whistling Duck addendum/No sighting
Since posting this morning I have received correspondence from a few birders who viewed the birds yesterday and had them fly off to sights unseen on different occasions. Considering the initial sightings yesterday were mid morning it goes without saying that Marine Park should be checked repeatedly today.
