Of interest were a pair of fly-by Snow Geese and 2 Wood Ducks that landed at the entrance to Bedell Creek before taking off a bit later. I drove over to Baldwin Park, a small detour on the way home. I heard the screeching before I got out of the car. Three MONK PARAKEETS were resting and calling on top of the lights opposite the parking lot (the first nest). and at least another dozen were on the next 3 lights. A second small nests is now on the fourth light. The Osprey nest continues but it's too early for occupancy. I walked to the bay where there were 4 Red-throated Loons and a pair of fly-by Double-crested Cormorants Sy Schiff -- NYSbirds-L List Info: Welcome and Basics Rules and Information Subscribe, Configuration and Leave Archives: The Mail Archive Surfbirds BirdingOnThe.Net Please submit your observations to eBird! -- -- NYSbirds-L List Info: http://www.NortheastBirding.com/NYSbirdsWELCOME http://www.NortheastBirding.com/NYSbirdsRULES http://www.NortheastBirding.com/NYSbirdsSubscribeConfigurationLeave.htm ARCHIVES: 1) http://www.mail-archive.com/nysbirds-l@cornell.edu/maillist.html 2) http://www.surfbirds.com/birdingmail/Group/NYSBirds-L 3) http://birdingonthe.net/mailinglists/NYSB.html Please submit your observations to eBird: http://ebird.org/content/ebird/ --

[nysbirds-l] Tufted Duck, Cold Spring Harbor, NY?
Hello Fellow Birder's and Photographer's, Has anyone seen the Tufted Duck on the pond next to St. John's Church in Cold Spring Harbor, NY? Any reports lately positive or negative would be helpful; we are planning to try for it this Sunday. Thank you. Re:[nysbirds-l] Common Redpoll at Smithtown, NY feeder.
Happy New Year fellow Birders, Beginning on January 2, 2013 I have a female Common Redpoll at my hulled sunflower Mobi-Mesh feeder. Species feeds early in the morning at first light till around 2PM daily. This is species number 93 seen on my property. This morning as I was cleaning under the feeders, the Common Redpoll alighted on the feeder inches from my face. Very exciting! If anyone is interested in seeing or photographing this bird please contact me off list. [nysbirds-l] Chaffinch
Thank you for all your responces so far on the chaffinch. Tomorrow (Monday) being a holiday never occured to us. We feel that weekend rules would probably apply. So we will be putting off our trip until the next available weekday to respect the homeowners wishes. [nysbirds-l] Any information on the NJ Chaffinch
My wife and I were interested in any information that could be provided about the chaffinch. We planned to go to NJ tomorrow morning to try to see it, but have failed to see any recent posts about it. We were wondering if it was still around as of Friday 1/13. We will be respectful of the guidlines the homeowner wishes to be followed. Any information would be greatly appreciated, posted or private.
