Hello,

Pertinent to this discussion, where can I find instructions on how DCAE service 
components can be created and deployed in Beijing release?

There must be a document explaining this somewhere that I haven’t found yet. 

Amsterdam does not support DCAE-DS onboarding and blueprint generation.
DCAE-DS was contributed in Beijing, but with the limitation that it does not 
support K8S based microServices.
The support for K8S based model and blueprint generation is planned for 
Casablanca.

I don’t believe Amsterdam SDC support component model generation. It may be 
available in Beijing; will have to defer to SDC team to explain the setup

release. I’ve copied Michael from SDC team who can give more info.

However DCAE-DS was not used for model/blueprint generation in R2 (component 
blueprints were created manually). For R3, current plans are to onboard the 
DCAE MS through SDC/DS.

The dcae_cli tool does not generate csar packages.  It is intended that the 
dcae_cli tool should generate tosca models which are to be used by the dcae 
design studio which is in sdc.  Currently this tosca model generation is a 
separate step.

HI Suraj, It was not part of Amsterdam, DCAE-DS was included in Beijing 
release. I’ve copied Michael from SDC team who can give more info.

However DCAE-DS was not used for model/blueprint generation in R2 (component 
blueprints were created manually). For R3, current plans are to onboard the 
DCAE MS through SDC/DS.

to host the templates and blueprints. The reason why I ask this is that we want 
to verify the component specification files on our own. As you know, they are 
not completely done.

Otherwise, we have to send those files to your team for verification every time 
we make any tiny changes. I think that might be quite annoying and less 
efficient.

Any advice on this will be helpful and welcome.

I discussed with Michael about this subject.  Using ONAP Nexus is not an ideal 
solution.  The reason is that from DCAE cli perspective, Nexus is read only 
(write access is only from Gerrit).  Therefore any new schema onboarded from 
cli cannot be added to Nexus from DCAE cli.

I donot have a good solution.  Maybe we will have to launch a VM  in Pod25.  
But VMs there are often rebuilt so they are not very "stable".  So special care 
needs to be taken for resiliency.

The same problem existing for all ONAP design time flows and components.  I 
donot know for example how SDC stores its blueprints and catalog..  If they 
have a solution we can probably use the same solution.

Yes the dcae_cli postgres is a separate database.  You could share a 
common postgres instance but would have to have been initialized with 
the dcae_cli tables.

The dcae_cli has a range of features including to help with testing your 
component on a DCAE environment as part of onboarding.  If you are not 
intending to test then you would not need a DCAE environment.
