We might instruct users that to convert their accounts they just need
to enter their openoffice.org username and password and ask them to
read the messages shown. If they do not remember the password, the
 link Request new password pages
 http://extensions.services.openoffice.org/user
 http://templates.services.openoffice.org/user
allows them to receive a link to change e-mail address and password
(note that the two websites use different logins).

Note that the request new password will work until the
 @openoffice.org alias will be active.
Last but not least, the possibility to use the old password will work
until the Oracle authentication server is operational.

VERY IMPORTANT: Consider that both kiling the alias forwarding and
shutting down the Oracle authentication server will prevent users to
login. I hope we can keep alive at least one of those services at
least until we'll get from Oracle all necessary information to migrate
 users.

Is there another list that can be used to contact them?  Or is it

Of course we can do that, but maybe the PPMC doesn't want to send out

Fortunately, the extension publishers usually have a website listing in
their descriptions. If any of those have an oo.o address, we can deal with
 them slowly and individually.

So there is no way to navigate, using DB queries, temporary tables,
etc., from extensions artifacts to the owning account to the email
 address for the owning account?

Yes, we can definitely do that, but if we work out the right queries
to find the active ones do we have time to contact them via their
@openoffice.org accounts? If not the only available option seems to be
to wait for the email list, as mentioned by Andrew below.

We have been working on some queries, see below for results:

excluded because of previous spam activities)
 - Users with content: 504 (188 local, 316 to be migrated)
 - Members with comments: 1541 (881 local, 660 to be migrated)
 - Users that have migrated: 30
 - Customer data: the set union of the 316 users with content and the

 Templates:

 - Users with content: 635 (4 rooms, 631 to be migrated)
 - Members with comments: 506 (0 local, 506 to be migrated)
 - Users that have migrated: 5
 - Customer data: the set union of the 631 users with content and the

We plan to send them in the very next hours a message like the
following, if you have any feedback or suggestion please send them
asap, since Oracle will kill the alias forwarding within today.

I just logged onto the extension site and the conversion went as

However I'm not able to do the same with the template site, there is an
 error message:
The login is currently not possible:

Is this something to be concerned with for today?

I'm afraid this is due to openoffice.org login service instability,
and actually we (SourceForge) can't do anything about that.

 Hi Andrew,

Would it be possible to get one more blast out to the legacy

Sure - I can do that.

If so, I can craft a short
note, directing them to the new lists, etc.

 That would be great.

 How about something like this:

Subject:  Final Reminder on OpenOffice.org mailing list and email
 forwarder shutdown

Please note that the legacy mailing lists for the OpenOfficeOffice.org
project will be retired effective March 16h.  New mailing lists have
been created, at Apache, for users as well as project participants.

If you wish to continue to receive occasional email updates from the
project, for new releases, etc., then please subscribe to our
announcement email list by sending an email to
 ooo-announce-subscr...@incubator.apache.org.  Information on other
mailing lists for the project can be found here:
 http://incubator.apache.org/openofficeorg/mailing-lists.html

Also on March 16th we will shutdown the legacy email forwarder for the
openoffice.org domain.  If you have and use an openoffice.org email
address alias, then please note the important information described on
 the following page:

 https://blogs.apache.org/OOo/entry/retirement_of_openoffice_org_email

We thank you for your past interest and support of the OpenOffice.org
project and look forward to your continued support at Apache.

If this still makes sense in the morning, we can go with that or
 something similar.

Is it ok to post the information on the french lists ? If so, I'll take the
time to translate it this afternoon.

Sure. You don't need my permission ;-)

Any help and / or volunteer is welcome :-)

 Eric

maybe we could update that blog entry adding some info about

Starting from tomorrow Extensions and Templates users authenticating

There is indeed a problem with the mailing lists:

This is an automatically generated Delivery Status Notification

THIS IS A WARNING MESSAGE ONLY.

YOU DO NOT NEED TO RESEND YOUR MESSAGE.

Delivery to the following recipient has been delayed:

sy...@es.openoffice.org

Message will be retried for 2 more day(s)

Technical details of temporary failure:
The recipient server did not accept our requests to connect
[es.openoffice.org (1): Connection timed out]

Now that Claudio Filho asked for a pt-BR mailing list, and Eric for fr
ones, it would be nice if the lists can be alive until we all are able
to announce the new lists in the existing ones.

The suggestion by Dave (/etc/hosts) worked for me.

And I must add to it that indeed I had to wait about 24 hours for some
messages to appear, so lists have some technical problems apart from that.

Moreover, I've just received a bunch of messages with the following error:
sy...@it.openoffice.org: connect to it.openoffice.org[140.211.11.131]:
Connection timed out
so indeed lists on the old infrastructure are not functioning correctly.

Would this include the Mercurial repository as well?

Have we made a back up of this, including full history and all CWS's?
I think that is a key piece we want to preserve.

What are people's thoughts on this?  (sooner is possible, I believe)

Plus one with me. We should restart new mail forwarding if ever needed.
Currently they are only spam and phishing.
