[OPEN-ILS-GENERAL] Fwd: Equinox to deliver report templates
Hey guys, I tried sending this message last week but it apparently did not go through. This refers back to what Amy Terlaga just posted on her blog about some canned reports Equinox has developed. March 3, 2010 Good morning everyone. I know there has been a lot of discussion via the list about canned reports for Evergreen. I have been working on a reports project to develop 35-40 canned reports that will be delivered to Equinox customers. We plan to deliver these to a few sites shortly for testing purposes and will then proceed with delivering them to existing and new customers. I am attaching a list of the proposed reports. These were based on various national and state sites I found that listed requirements for reporting statistics to the state or federal government. Once these reports are in place, you will be able to skip the template writing step and create a report based off pre-selected filters. You can, however, clone the report templates if you need to add or remove display information or edit the filters or data transforms. If you have other suggestions or questions, please let me know. I know these are not a comprehensive set of reports that each library may need but hopefully they will help you get started. [OPEN-ILS-GENERAL] Update on Evergreen Reports
I know there's been a lot of discussion in the last couple weeks about canned reports for Evergreen. I tried making a post last week in response but I think it didn't like the attachment so I've copied in my attachment below. I have developed 39 report templates. These are currently being tested by Bibliomation and we have plans to have a couple other sites test the templates before making them official. Once we receive feedback and are sure the templates are working as designed, we will add them to ILS-contrib so anyone can download the templates to their server. For Equinox customers, we will gladly deliver the report templates. Below is a list of the reports being tested right now. They were based on various national and state sites I found that showed requirements for reporting statistics to state, federal and local government. I am certainly open to other ideas, as I know this is not a comprehensive set of reports. Hopefully it is a good set that will get you started. Sincerely, Shae Standardized Reports Proposed by Equinox Library Collections: Count Titles by Library Count Items by Library Count Items Added by Date Range Count Items Deleted by Date Range Count Items Added by Date Range and Statistical Category Count Items by Circulation Modifier and Shelving Location Inventory List (List of Items by Shelving Location and Call Number Range) List Items Added by Date Range List Items by Copy Status List Titles Deleted by Date Range List Items with Total Usage Count (to be filtered by total usage and item date creation ranges for collection development purposes) List Titles by Physical Format (using fixed field type codes) List Titles/Items by Circulation Modifier List URLs for Electronic Resources Note: To allow for maximum flexibility in reporting, the IN LIST and BETWEEN operators were used in most cases. [OPEN-ILS-GENERAL] Canned Reports being created
Hi Shae, This sounds great and would be appreciated by all, providing information we need from the database. Although the pull holds list is built into the client already, I think a canned version to be imported into Excel, with multiple sort capabilities, would be helpful as well, and is something our staff has requested. [OPEN-ILS-GENERAL] Bill collection/reconciliation reports
Indiana Evergreen is interested in knowing if any consortium is using a bill collection/reconcillation report process. We currently have 58 libraries live on Evergreen and patrons that have incurred fines/fees at multiple libraries as they use multiple libraries in person. The circulating library is owed the 25 cent per day overdue fine; and bills for lost and damage are owed to the owning library. The interface requires that the bill with respect to each item be inspected to determine which library the debt is owed. Provided some legislative changes occur, we would like a library to be able to collect any money owed on a patron account--whether online via a credit card module or by cash/check payment at the library. Then run some type of reconcillation report; have the libraries pay into a common fund and then distribute out the amount owed to the library. Is anyone doing this kind of action? Catherine A. Re: [OPEN-ILS-GENERAL] Fwd: Equinox to deliver report templates
When it comes to list reports, in some cases, it can be nice to have two versions of a particular report: a ready-made version and a clone-ready version The ready-made version would be designed to fit neatly within the margins of the page and would require little thought in running. It would be targeted to specific users in specific situations The clone-ready version, on the other hand, would have plenty of display information options, and would be designed on the premise that it is better, and more fool-proof, to remove display options rather than add them.
