Re: [OPEN-ILS-GENERAL] Android app for Evergreen library catalog
I don't remember very much discussion, but I had something thrown together that was at least able to communicate with the server and login (if I hard coded it to at least...) and do simple searches. But between the thought of trying to keep up with releases, the generally terrible design decisions I was going to have to fix, and the fact that the TTOPAC was coming soon, I let it fall by the wayside. If anyone feels like punishing themselves I'm not adverse to letting people have it. I will say a staff app would be really cool now that the iPad has a camera, if anyone wants to look into it. ;) Jason -- Jason Boyer, IT Specialist Jackson County Public Library 303 W Second St Seymour, IN 47274 jas...@myjclibrary.org p (812) 522-3412 ext. 227 f (812) 522-5456 On Sun, Nov 20, 2011 at 2:58 PM, George Tuttle gtut...@prlib.org wrote: Hi Lori, ** ** That sounds like a hope springs eternal maybe. [OPEN-ILS-GENERAL] Sorting Searches by Date Added
Hi,I am trying to construct a search url in the opac that will return new material by date added. I can create a search that included published date of 2011 but the list doesn't seem to sort with the newest at the top since they are all the same year. I was hoping to create some quick search links for our website pointing patrons to new material so if there is a better way to go about this I would love to hear what others are doing. Thanks!Michael SchellSystems AdministratorFort Erie Public Library905-871-2546 x301msch...@forterie.library.on.cahttp://www.forterie.library.on.ca

[OPEN-ILS-GENERAL] Acquisitions MARC load and Permissions
I have sort of a strange issue. We have been doing some testing with EDI and one of libraries was doing things with Midwest Tape. He is using 962 for the holdings information with subfield p for a note. In one of his test files, he does not have any value for the note so it exists in the record will essentially a null value. If I process the file (and I have the Everything permission) it loads fine into a selection list. If he processes withe the Acquisitions Administrator, it won't load and the message Acq Import Error comes up. If we put some data in subfield p then it loads fine for him. Has someone else run into this? -- Tim Spindler Manager of Library Applications tspind...@cwmars.org 508-755-3323 x20 C/W MARS, Inc. 67 Millbrook St, Suite 201 Worcester, MA 01606 http://www.cwmars.org *P** Go Green - **Save a tree! Re: [OPEN-ILS-GENERAL] Adding stock items in Evergreen 2.1.0
bfeifarek at q.com writes: Hi John,This is just a guess, since I have not tried changing locale from the automatic en-US setting, but have you set up the en-GB locale? It appears to me that you may need to put a record in a data table (I don't see a record in config.i18n_locale for en-GB), and run autogen.sh to read that language setting in to the system. There is some information here but there may be other things that need to happen. Brian Thanks for the help but, as a relative beginner with Linux, I'm finding all this very heavy going. From Draft doc for 2.0, Chapter 20. Languages and Localization 1.The translated labels for each locale are stored in SQL files named 950.data.seed-values-xx-YY.sql where xx-YY represents the locale code for the translation. Load the translated labels into the Evergreen database using the command psql, substituting your user, host and database connection information accordingly: $ psql -U username -h hostname -d database \ -f /path/to/Evergreen-source/Open-ILS/src/sql/Pg/950.data.seed-values-fr- CA.sql Initially I tried psql -U egadmin -h ohseven -d evergreen -f /home/jh/Evergreen-ILS-2.1.0a/Open- ILS/src/sql/Pg/950.data.seed-values-en-GB.sql I typed the password very carefully but got Authentication failed for user egadmin - although I have been using that user name, and the same password that I tried here at least twice, to log into the staff client without any problems. I then tried the following: postgres@OhSeven:~$ psql -U evergreen -h localhost -d evergreen - f /home/jh/Evergreen-ILS-2.1.0a/Open-ILS/src/sql/Pg/950.data.seed-values-en- GB.sql This allowed me in but gave pages of errors like the following psql:/home/jh/Evergreen-ILS-2.1.0a/Open-ILS/src/sql/Pg/950.data.seed-values-en- GB.sql:1084: ERROR: insert or update on table i18n_core violates foreign key constraint i18n_core_translation_fkey DETAIL: Key (translation)=(en-GB) is not present in table i18n_locale. I appreciate that the instructions are not intended for beginners, but can anyone help me resolve this one? Am I logged on as the wrong user (postgres)? Thanks. John H.
Re: [OPEN-ILS-GENERAL] holds and fixed fields
Can anyone tell me where to find information about (or even explain how) MARC fixed fields are used in targeting a Meta-record hold? Specifically, which fields does Evergreen look at (Type, Form, Lang, etc.)? Kathryn, First, fixed fields could be used as part of the fingerprinting that associates records into a metarecord, but I don't believe they are with the stock configuration. Second, fixed fields get looked at when you choose one or more holdable formats for a metarecord hold. It looks at Type, Form, and Lang, and pulls these descriptors from each of the records found in the metarecord. However, I think it restricts Lang to the language of the record that was used as an entry point for placing a hold, but I'm not 100% sure. -- Jason Etheridge | Equinox Software, Inc. / Your Library's Guide to Open Source | phone: 1-877-OPEN-ILS (673-6457) | email: ja...@esilibrary.com | web: http://www.esilibrary.com
[OPEN-ILS-GENERAL] King County Android App
KCLS uses Boopsie which works for Android and iPhones. Our app, KCLS to Go last week added 2 new features: a Library Catalog Smart Search and a Book Look ISBN barcode search. The smart search is a stemming search putting you into lists based on a weekly MARC output of our catalog. The ISBN search is similar to a QR search: scan the barcode and it brings you to that book in our catalog. Great for bookstore browsers. The front page of the app is configurable. We have the catalog, my account, library info (which uses the device GPS), our digital collection, programs and classes, blogs and social networks. Denise Siers
