[OPEN-ILS-GENERAL] Converting large numbers of patron records to inactive
Some ILSs have the ability to periodically convert large numbers of patron records to inactive. What about Evergreen? Would it be possible to have a set of criteria like: If a patron has no items currently out, If there are no bills on the patron’s account, And if there has been no activity such as circulations, renewals, payment of bills, or logging into Evergreen for 3 or more years Then the Evergreen user (aka patron) will be automatically marked “Inactive.” Is it possible? Has anyone deployed a feature like this? Thanks, in advance. Re: [OPEN-ILS-GENERAL] Open-ils-general Digest, Vol 83, Issue 18
K-12 School district - 12th graders graduate. No reason to continue to carry them on the system. As we do overdues by homeroom teacher, the teacher who no longer has 12 graders, picks up an entering grade. So we have to revise/delete the homeroom number noted for the leaving 12th graders. Why not just delete them? At one point we changed bar code numbers for a group of students - now we have a ghosted list of those students with their earlier numbers. It interferes with inventory, overdues, etc. Being able to delete a batch group of students(patrons) makes sense to me. I would tend to think the main reason would be for accurate statistics -- so your patron count wouldn't be inflated with accounts that have expired years ago. Thanks. [OPEN-ILS-GENERAL] 2013 Hack-A-Way
Calvin College in Michigan has been selected as the host of the Hack-A-Way this year. Dan Wells, well known in the developer community, is organizing the hosting effort. Some details: - Dates: We are currently working on dates in the second half of September. Once Dan has those dates developers will vote on their preference. The rest is pretty much copy and pasted from the proposal: - Lodging: Guests would stay at our on-campus conference center. The discounted room rate would be $77.00 per night plus 15% tax (6% sales tax, 9% lodging tax). You can read more about the accommodations here: http://www.calvin.edu/prince/accommodations/ - Transportation: We will provide shuttle transportation to and from the airport, and also for some evening excursions. - Meeting space: Our primary space would be a large multi-purpose room adjacent to the library. We would also have flexibility to use multiple conference rooms within the library if we wish to split up for any portion of the event. - Meals: Breakfast is provided by the conference center, and we will provide lunch and beverages for all three working days. Guests will be responsible for dinner costs. -- Rogan Hamby, MLS, CCNP, MIA Managers Headquarters Library and Reference Services, York County Library System You can never get a cup of tea large enough or a book long enough to suit me. -- C.S. [OPEN-ILS-GENERAL] RDA Tags
I feel like I am asking a lot of questions, but we are kind of new to this... RDA tags 264, 336, 337, and 338 appear in our MARC displays, but not in our OPAC displays. My assumption is that this is a configuration issue and not related to the fact that we are still at 2.1. Am I correct in this assumption or this yet another reason to look forward to our upgrade? That also holds true for the older JSPac available in 2.1 and earlier, though (arguably) with a little more effort required. However, the stock TPAC templates in 2.4.0 do explicitly add support for grabbing and displaying publication information from the 264, if present.
