Re: [OPEN-ILS-GENERAL] 856 subfield u

2018-07-09 Thread Valerie McBeth
Janet,
Our indicators are 4 and 0.
We don’t have subfields y or z in our records.
Don’t quite understand your last question, so I’m copying our database person
on this.
Thanks,
Valerie

Hi Valerie,

You can define how the 856 subfields display. The indicators should be 4 and 0.
In our system if there is only |u our system supplies a generic OPAC link
"Click here", to display in the OPAC.
If there is |u and |z or |y, then |u does not display, the OPAC link comes from
either |z or |y.
If there is |3 and |u and |z (or y), the |3 displays as a note which displays
after the |z (or y) text.

Do you know how you system is set up to display the 856?

Re: [OPEN-ILS-GENERAL] 856 subfield u

2018-07-09 Thread Valerie McBeth
So I added a subfield 3 to a different record:
http://opac.nwic.edu/eg/opac/record/37700?query=quiet%20crisis;qtype=title;locg=1;detail_record_view=0;expand=marchtml#marchtml
Restarted Evergreen and the link didn’t show up in the display. But that record
has a URL in the 538 field, isn’t a link, but when copied and pasted into the
browser gets there. That address isn’t the PURL, which does show in the MARC
record, which also works when copied and pasted.
Other thoughts?
Thanks,
Valerie

2018-07-09 Thread Jeff Klapes
Hi Jeff - It's not free, but very inexpensive: We've been using a
WordPress plugin called DrawAttention (https://wpdrawattention.com/) and
it's very easy to use. I think we paid $75 for the full version, and a
slightly smaller annual maintenance fee.

We're currently using it only on our web site, but we plan to use it in
the way you describe as soon as our system activates a feature that
makes copy locations in the OPAC into live links. Then we'll be able to
link directly to maps that can direct patrons to that location in the
building.

Re: [OPEN-ILS-GENERAL] It's a runoff! Baskets vs. shelves

2018-07-09 Thread Kathy Lussier
Hi all,

Our new name for the gathering place that will replace temporary lists is
basket! Eighty people responded to the runoff survey. Forty-nine voted for
baskets and 31 voted for shelf.

For more updates on this project, follow the wishlist bug report at
https://bugs.launchpad.net/evergreen/+bug/1721575. We've been testing this
new feature for the past month, and we think people will be very happy with
the ease in which people will be able to select titles from a search
results screen and quickly place holds on them, add them to a permanent
list, or add them to a bucket.

Many thanks to Equinox for their work on this project and to the MassLNC
Evergreen Development Initiative partners for funding it!
