Re: [OPEN-ILS-GENERAL] [External] Re: Create item/call# records without permissions

2019-11-20 Thread Durrence, April
Thanks Jordan and Remington for the feedback!

I updated the bug<https://bugs.launchpad.net/evergreen/+bug/1853062> to say we
do grant UPDATE_VOLUME and UPDATE_COPY to Circulators and we may have to
reconsider that choice under the circumstances. This bug gives much food for
thought and discussion. We are planning to do a conference proposal to talk
about our patron and staff permission changes, so I hope to meet you then,
Jordan! 😊

April

Jordan,

A quick glance at the code seems to support your general theory. I don’t see
any references to CREATE_VOLUME or CREATE_COPY in the perl code (except in the
serials code), but I see several references to UPDATE_VOLUME and UPDATE_COPY.
I’ll add some initial details to the LaunchPad bug, in hopes that someone else
can take it further.

Hey April,

Our consortium is currently in the process of overhauling our permissions as
well, using yall as a base.

After looking over it, I wonder if the UPDATE_COPY permission might the the
culprit here. It is the only permission in the Circulator group that looks like
it may be the cause outside of a bug. Unfortunately we haven't got as far as
setting up new groups for testing. Give it a shot and let me know as this is
definitely something to know since we are in a similar boat with similar goals.

Re: [OPEN-ILS-GENERAL] [External] Re: Webbies all the way down

2019-06-06 Thread Durrence, April
Thanks Bob and Jeff,

In the meantime, we found that the issue was resolved on Evergreen systems
where we had deployed the changes in Evergreen bug 1797923, "Browser client
iframe (catalog, etc.) loading page":
https://bugs.launchpad.net/evergreen/+bug/1797923

This change should already be present in Evergreen 3.1.7 and up, Evergreen
3.2.1 and up, and Evergreen 3.3.

Unfortunately, we are on Evergreen 3.1.6, so this fix is not in place for us.

Thanks for all the links, as this will be helpful to those on our team who are
not as out of their depth with the technical aspects as I am! ☺

April

Hi Diane,

If the holds expire, the items should show as Available/Reshelving and stay at

[OPEN-ILS-GENERAL] Webbies all the way down

2019-06-06 Thread Durrence, April
Hi all,

This morning, we have had a rash of reports from multiple library systems
within the consortium of problems that replicate the ones reported in these
bugs:

https://bugs.launchpad.net/evergreen/+bug/1708951
https://bugs.launchpad.net/evergreen/+bug/1731305
https://bugs.launchpad.net/evergreen/+bug/1797923
https://bugs.launchpad.net/evergreen/+bug/1731272
https://bugs.launchpad.net/evergreen/+bug/1724348

None of the libraries report making changes to the default view and most seem
to have Chrome version 74 (v.74.0.3729.167) or 75 (v.75.0.3770.80).

We have tried this experiment that did not work:
-Clear the cache
-Log back into Webby
-Choose a catalog search
-Click "set default view" once the catalog search screen is up (working
properly the first time)

Anyone else having this issue today or have any potential
solutions/experiments/workarounds for us to try to resolve for frustrated
front-line staff?

Regards,

April

Hi April,

You can use login "admin" and password "demo123" - from there, you can create
new cataloger accounts or find test user accounts that are already in there to
update and use.

Please forgive me if this information is already known and I missed it, but the

Is there a generic login that testers should use? I believe some of the

Hi,

ESI has completed work on the cataloging functions in the web client. The
purpose of this work is to implement cataloging functions that are currently
available in the XUL staff client in a lightweight web application. The
functional areas that were implemented are listed on the Evergreen wiki here:

http://wiki.evergreen-ils.org/doku.php?id=dev:browser_staff:dev_sprints:2

As always, community feedback is desired. To take a look at these features,
point your browser to:

https://webby.evergreencatalog.com/eg/staff/

Developers are now at work on sprint 3, which will focus on the implementation
of reports and admin functions in the web client. Those features will be added
to the web client soon.

Thanks,
Sally
