Re: [OPEN-ILS-GENERAL] Spine label printer recommendations
Justin, I did receive some responses off list. We purchased the Dymo 450 and have been happy with it. There is a small glitch with Evergreen but I think we can work that out. From the list archives it seems that spine label printers comes up about once a year and as far as I can tell there wasn't ever a response to your (this) annual inquiry. In the past the Dymo 450 was not working with Evergreen - but that may have changed since then. The other printer mentioned as being recommended, although I believe it was by a vendor, was the TSC TTP 245. We purchased a few of these to use outside of Evergreen and I'll confirm that they are a very nice printer. They are fast and the labels/resin we use with them are extremely high quality. It was said that the stock for the Dymo printer may fade after a few years and subsequent posters said this would likely be the same for the TSC 245. Our labels aren't nearly that old but based on my time with them I doubt it would happen in 2-3 years. Maybe you've already bought something? If so, what did you go with? We have a library that may be looking at purchasing a printer. Does it integrate well with Evergreen or is there another interface needed to print the labels? Is there a recommendation for another brand/model of printer? Cost is a factor since we had not budgeted for a new printer this year. We need something reliable that we hopefully won't have to replace again in the near future. I don't expect it will last for 20+ years like our Okidata, but it would be nice to have some longevity. Any information would be extremely helpful. Good to know support for the 450 as improved. Thanks Janet. Justin On Aug 2, 2012, at 12:01 PM, Janet Royer wrote: Justin, I did receive some responses off list. In the past the Dymo 450 was not working with Evergreen - but that may have changed since then. I think this has always been a mistaken notion, perhaps based on one library's inability to configure printer drivers. At least that's been the case since 2008, when we first started testing Evergreen with our (then) Dymo 330's, and then upgraded to Dymo 450s - they always worked for us. Most of our libraries use Dymo 450's with Evergreen today.
[OPEN-ILS-GENERAL] Spine label printer recommendations
The very old printer (Okidata 390 plus) that we have been using to print spine labels completely died yesterday. We are now looking at something to replace it quickly.
