Hi Lori, When KCLS went live, Sally Fortin at ESI wrote some KCLS specific workflows documents for Acquisitions ordering/receiving/invoicing, that's probably what you have. Part of the documentation that ESI delivered to GPLS this week included a more comprehensive document on possible workflows. Perhaps that got overlooked in the upload to the wiki? Re: [OPEN-ILS-GENERAL] Acquisitions and Serials Documentation Drafts Now Available
Mary, I'm happy to share them (on KCLS' behalf). Question: Would it be useful for me to post these on the wiki with the official draft of Acq documentation? I'm wondering if it would be useful to have a place to post info about procedures or potential workflows with the official documentation. I see these two types of documents very differently but both are equally important. And, is there a protocol in place for providing feedback on the draft documentation that is posted? Seems like publicly sharing our comments would be useful. I'm wondering if the documentation could be provided on a wiki and in wiki format instead of PDF? I'm thinking of the way Dan Scott put up the proposed rules of governance recently so we could all provide feedback. That would make all feedback visible and easier to keep track of for whomever gets to consolidate that feedback. Should we be having this discussion on the Documentation list too? Re: [OPEN-ILS-GENERAL] Acquisitions and Serials Documentation Drafts Now Available
I think having the discussion on the Documentation list is important as well. The hope is that the Acquisitions. documentation would be included as part of the official documentation for 2.0: http://docs.evergreen-ils.org/2.0/draft/html/ I think it would be best to get the documentation into DocBook XML format which could then be processed in both HTML and PDF as part of the official documentation. Would the DIG list be a good place to have the discussion and provide feedback on documentation? Hi all, Sorry again about overlooking the workflows document when posting. I have added MS Word 97-2003 versions of each document to the Dokuwiki start page: http://evergreen-ils.org/dokuwiki/doku.php?id=start Please let me know if there are more questions or concerns. Re: [OPEN-ILS-GENERAL] Acquisitions and Serials Documentation Drafts Now Available
Robert, I'm happy to give DIG the set of procedures I have from KCLS, and I guess you can snag the PINES/ESI *.docs from the wiki. Would it reasonable to have the DIG get back to everyone on this list with suggested revisions as well as recommendations for where this stuff all lives? Advise if I'm stepping out of line...just trying to keep this discussion moving forward toward some kind of resolution! Wow! This is awesome and extremely helpful. Thank you for sending this out in draft form. I know we librarians like to wait until everything is perfect before we start sharing--I can't tell you how much I appreciate this. After a quick read things make a whole lot more sense.
