There's a weekly IRC meeting for Telemetry, but it is only run if
there's anything on the agenda. Last time we had a meeting was March
2016, since then nobody wrote anything on the agenda. The meeting page
is here:

  https://wiki.openstack.org/wiki/Meetings/Telemetry

It seems everybody is more comfortable with mailing lists and their
asynchronicity. :)

I agree on it that there may be not that much developers in the session, So
I'm ok
if there isn't one at PTG. I'm sorry because I know this is not an
appropriate place
to talk about weekly meeting in IRC. But you know the traditional way is
not necessarily
burdensome, I‘m sure ML is a good way, as well as IRC, to communicate in
free time.
Can we restore weekly meeting or discuss in some centralized way just like
other TC
projects so that some developers can get timely responses and brainstorm
for Telemetry?

I completely agree with gord, obviously.

The question is: if we were to request a room, what we'd talk about or
do that we couldn't achieve remotely? I'm not sure of what TBH.

As the deadline was last Sunday to request a room, it seems like we're
not gonna join this time neither. :)

i just want to add, i am ok to meet at PTG but if we consider the turn
out at forum sessions, we aren't getting any more developers, just
random requirement requests.

we can discuss on irc and mailing list? in fact we encourage it, which
is why you might see random short emails from me on list about whether i
should proceed on work item a certain way. i understand how meetings and
presence create this false narrative that work is being done.
regardless, i do hope we leverage ML and irc more. if you have a comment
or question, don't be afraid to use this medium. i shouldn't have to
wait 6 months to here problems :)

cheers,

+1. I always thought it's a pity that we have no weekly meeting. The whole
Telemetry team need communications.
PTG room discussion can not only provide a good chance to communicate
within team but also attract more new people to contribute.
In my opinion, Discussion promotes the growth of the project. Maybe
statistics on the number of people who can attend the meeting is
more convincing.

if there are cross project discussions we can line up beforehand, it
might be worthwhile. if not, i imagine it's not worthwhile to have us
all fly to a different city so we can do exactly what we can do at home.

[openstack-dev] [telemetry] Room during the next PTG

2017-05-18 Thread Julien Danjou
Hi team,

It's time for us to request a room (or share one) for the next PTG in
September if we want to meet. Last time we did not. Do we want one this
time?
