There is already the yast2-metapackage-handler in factory what will be used
for this (also). You can already create .ymp files on the server side to make
use of it.

Have a look at Benji's pages for more details:

I guess you are talking about adding the functionality into the installer
(which must be done before RC, while the list of availble repos can be
updated during RC phase) while Bernhard is talking about creating the packman
repository.

The integration into installer is being worked on, however, I cann't promise
any particular Alpha/Beta release which will contain it.

Ah, now I see I was misunderstood. I absolutely don't want
Packman/Guru team to prepare packages for Alpha/Beta/Factory.

I meant possibility of one-click-adding Packman or Guru repo to
"Installation sources" using some YaST's module. Just to make normal
user's life simpler.

Example: someone want to play DivX, so we say sth like:
1) Open YaST
2) Click "New source"
3) Check "Packman"
4) Click "Add"
5) Install "Mplayer" using "Software Management"
Over.

Adding which functionality? We (Packman) simply don't provide packages
for 10.3 until the first RC is released. It's simply not possible to
rebuild all packages every two weeks.

Are you serious!? Adding such a functionality in RC (Thu, Sep 20:
openSUSE 10.3 Release Candidate 1 release) gives us only 14 days for
finding and fixing bugs. It's extremely short time.

And in general we have the yast2-mpp module getting ready for this task.

[opensuse-factory] Integration of external repositories

2007-06-24 Thread Rafał Miłecki

Andreas Jaeger mentioned over month ago that openSUSE 10.3 will
provide better integration of external repos:
http://lists.opensuse.org/opensuse-announce/2007-05/msg2.html

I use openSUSE FACTORY version and can not see any nice method of
adding Packman or Guru in YaST. Is any team doing something about
this? I think openSUSE needs some easy way of adding 3rd party
repositories.
