[openthinclient-user] Windows 2012 Secondary LDAP synchronization

2015-07-27 Thread Mican Jindrich
Hello,

I lately tried to test "secondary LDAP synchronization" and it does work with
Windows Server 2008 LDAP but it does not work with Windows Server 2012 LDAP...
or maybe it is problem on my side but did anyone actualy tried? If yes, can you
give me some anonymous information how did you set it up, please?

I hope no problem with 2008, it works nicely, but 2012 is like dead end,
nothing works.

Thank you.

[openthinclient-user] OTC - Jessie?

2015-05-29 Thread Mican Jindrich
Hello,

I wanted to ask if there is plan to upgrade OTC deployed client to "Jessie"
while I start to have compatibility issues of drivers etc due to "Wheezy" base
of OTC client.

Some stuff just does not work like IntedHD GPU acceleration or some repacking
based on that. I have aswell issues with some USB 3 sticks etc and I would bet
that base of "Wheezy" is the problem and it will for sure be a problem in near
future.

Thanks for any hints or answer.

Re: [openthinclient-user] Configure Dual View for Thin Clients

2015-05-28 Thread Mican Jindrich
Hello Andreas,

yes, it is - but it really depends to what port is display conneceted etc, you
might want to make dualview device connected to "Hardware Type" which you are
using or of course you can do it 1to1 through clients.. But yeah, HW types are
easier way to make it for more thin clients.

[openthinclient-user] Intel HD graphics without accelerated decoding

2015-05-27 Thread Mican Jindrich
Hello,

I have came across one quite difficult problem and that are slow stream video
on Intel HD integrated graphic cards, easier way for anyone to try it out is to
start browser in OTC linux desktop and play YouTube videos. Sadly on all
clients videos have major tearing in fullscreen even that thin clients should
have good enough hardware to play them smoothly. (All cores go up to 80-100%)

I tried to install / upgrade Intel graphic drivers but nothing really helped.

Any idea how to make it work?

[openthinclient-user] Network printer - RDP redirection

2015-05-18 Thread Mican Jindrich
Hello,

wanted to ask if anyone was solving network printer redirection with
openthinclient Consus 2.0?
I have CUPS client on server, got printers set and I want to redirect them as
they would be local printers (not me, but collegue wants it that way). I have
found it kinda impossible, I can do it other way around - to just set CUPS and
then connect the printer to Windows session on another side, but while it
should print even on the client without RDP session, I don't know how to sort
that out.

Any ideas?

Thank you.

Hello again,

While continuing to test Consus, I've run into another issue: I can't get any
sound when running xfreerdp with /sound.
Why can't I run freerdp from the desktop, you ask? Well, it just loops with the
"enter your username and password" prompt. But that isn't what this post is
about.
Upon further investigation, it seems to be looking for *.so files in the
/usr/lib./i386-linux-gnu/freerdp directory, which doesn't exist. I get errors
like, "LoadLibraryA: /usr/lib./i386-linux-gnu/freerdp/rdpsnd-client-alsa.so:
cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory"

I'm assuming that there needs to be an update posted for the freerdp package in
order to remedy this, but I'll try anything that I can to help.

Thank you for your time

If you will pull git with openthinclient packages, you should be able to at

I think it is possible, but it needs some editing.

I'm demoing Openthinclient Consus as a possible option for deployment. I've
gotten the server and manager set up, a client registered, and got it to boot.
But then I hit a roadblock: the system would show boot messages, then go back
to a screen with only a blinking cursor, then the monitor would turn off. I
tried multiple different configurations and proceeded made my own display
"Device" to try and get this to work.
Then, I switched to a different device type instead. Lo and behold, it worked,
but I had to log in. Thinking that it was just my device type that was causing
the issue, I added Autologin to this one. After this, the thin client wouldn't
show a desktop any more.

So, there seems to either be an issue with autologin in Consus, or I've
configured something wrong. Any ideas on which?

Re: [openthinclient-user] OpenThinClient Servers

Oh well, I am not really sure about that. Only thing you want to have
synchronized are actually settings, but other than that, OTC Server itself is
just tool for creating PXE boot-up to RDP. So, there is no problem for setting
more servers and just copy-cat the settings. If you will have custom packages,
you can still deploy them on one server from which will rest of servers be
updating from.

About synchronization itself I am not really sure. How many employees are in
your company?

Btw, I am just an user of TCO. (But I was stuck myself at some questions, so I

Hi,

We have been running on Openthinclient successfully for several years now,
using various PC's. It works great.

Recently we started an upgrade project to use the Consus appliance. Here are
show-stopper video problems we run into:

display works while booting, but as soon as it goes into graphic mode the
screen goes black with a blinking cursor in the upper left corner.

I've tried out a number of monitors, as well as a variety of Openthinclient
settings. The old system works so well. What am I missing with the new system?

Thanks,

for my dev-site but it seems that it did not work as I have expected.
Don't get me wrote, but application working properly. I have even updated
schema, so I can add smart card with an option in menu etc... after all it is
kinda easy.

But I have problems with Smartcard reader from REINER SCT - Cyberjack e-com
plus which does not simply work even with its own drivers, that are provided on
web-site. I was trying older rdesktop aswell as the new one I have made, same
for pcsc-lite including latest drivers from Reiner...

RDP destination is Windows 2008 R2 SP1 with Reiner SCT SW installed.

On mini client everything works as expected, remote desktop works, USB support
works, but when I do test of card reader then everything is fine, but I do not
see attributes of card in card reader. On thin-client pcscd does see the card
and reader.. pcsc_scan confirms that everything works as expected, but on
server side ... attributes of card gets lost (reader itself shows just fine, SW
reacts on card being in reader or not). How come? Is it common problem of
REINER SCT - Cyberjack e-com or is it another problem?

Thank you in advance.

Henry

Re: [openthinclient-user] Old packages - any help whatsoever?

2015-03-19 Thread Mican Jindrich
Hello Alexander,

1) That´s great news. :) I meant that on forum, there are mostly no
answers since January, mostly are people asking, but in 2014 you could see even
answers, now no so much. I´ll check the link, thank you.

2) Well, it is called v1.8.2 but when I look in thinclient into command
line and will write rdesktop -ver, it will show me 1.7.1 which is confusing,
even when I selected 1.8.2 in manager.

3) I have already made some, but I think that my problem is mostly aimed
somewhere else - more into compatibility issues with current hardware... more
into rdp communication of card reader that I am using.. Driver works fine, but
it is not forwarding attributes about card inside etc.

4) I see. Thank you.

Best regards,

Henry

Hello Henry,
1) yes, the project is alive.
"I don´t see any answers since year 2015" -> I think, it is currently 2015 ;-)
Please have a look at
http://archive.openthinclient.org/openthinclient/
for example.
2) our current rdesktop package is V1.8.2, this is the quite new, it is only
one newer version available.
3) If you want to build own packages, have a look here:
https://wiki.openthinclient.org/confluence/display/DOO/Entwicklersektion
(currently only in German available)

4) The openthinclient company can assist you with configuration, customization,
education.
This service is with charge.

Or you can use the "free" service, this is the mailing-list.

Hello,

sorry for quite a lot messages, but I wanted to ask just few question...
hopefully they will be ever answered...

1) Is this project even alive? I don´t see any answers since year 2015. I
am trying to make some breakthrough in using OTC but without help I will be
probably damned - already playing with it for almost 2 weeks.

2) Will there be new packages for rdesktop or smart-card lite ... (or well
pcsc-lite) which are out and are actually improving something..?

3) Is there a way to get explained how to make something which comes in
tar.bz2 to be tcos/deb file... I am kinda trying to learn it all, but it is
hard when I am getting into linux stuff for 11days (even that I think I have
made great progress)

4) I could even assist with helping community if I would get more
information how to actually work with OTC in general and would be able to
create something valuable... But without answers, I can hardly get more far
than I am.

I am kind of sad that I see such a project being frozen in time..

Hopefully I will have some answers from someone...

Thank you

2015-03-19 Thread Mican Jindrich
Hello Jörn,

yes, I am using version OTC 2.0 - Consus.
Problem is not much regarding OTC but with apps inside - rdesktop & smart-card
lite which are outdated a bit. That I think might cause some problems.
Yep, I have read about package building, but mostly having issues with making
completely new ones which are not in .deb structure.

Regards.

Hello Henry,

are you sure trying on openthincleint version 2.x? OTC is still being
developed. We have just released Version 2.1.

Have you read:

[openthinclient-user] Smartcard redirection does not work properly (REINER SCT) - token/chip card not visible

2015-03-19 Thread Mican Jindrich
Hello,

past last week I have improved in making packages etc, but I still have problem
with proper smart card (chip card) redirection.
I use REINER SCT device with token and while I see it on remote desktop
(Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1) when I test it I do not see ATR of token. Other
than that test does end with full success. BUT... when I try using it with
A.TRUST application, it does tell me that I do not have token in smart card
reader.

That does actually bother me while I need make that work.
I tried using smart card lite, I did manage to combine it with proper driver
for Debian aswell, but I did not have better result than this.
I can say that RDP session (W2k8R2) does see REINER SCT SC reader, but it
cannot see the token.

Anybody knows what to do with it?

Btw, there is rdesktop version 1.8.3, but still not for openthinclient... :( (I
am not that far to actualy make package like this...)

Thank you in advace.

[openthinclient-user] Openthin client census vs driver for smart card reader

2015-03-16 Thread Mican Jindrich
Hello,

I am quite new to Openthinclient and I am trying to figure out how to correctly
install driver packages for smart-card reader from REINER - SCT - Cyberjack
Chipcard reader...
I tried many ways and never succeeded. I am always getting "Package isn´t
formatted correctly".

Smart card reader works, but when I enter card, I do not actually see any.

Setup:

Ubuntu 14.04 LTS - Openthinclient census - RDP through rdesktop to Windows 2008
R2 test desktop. There I have everything installed, I can actualy verify that
through it, reader works, but I cannot read cards through RDP desktop. Diagnose
of reader works. (reader is connected to Mini-PC from ZOTAC) Cards do not.

I tried to make my own package for installing drivers REINER SCT - Cyberjack -
Chipcard reader - Ubuntu 14.04 64bit...
But description of how to make such drivers is really thin, mostly I cannot
even find on web that would be someone making their own drivers for any use. I
just found that 64bit might be problematic and I would like to find out if it
is the case or if I am just too new to make drivers in correct way. I was
trying to use the wiki, but seriously for such a thing as drivers, there is
nothing really described. My college told me that there used to be video
describing how to make graphic drivers from which he managed to do something
similar, but I did not find anything like that, so I am really unsure of how to
do it absolutely correctly...

Can anyone help me, please?

Thank you very much in advance.

Best regards
