Hi Ray, Ryota,

last week I used Zoom in meeting with guys from China and US. It worked fine.

Ryota,

Thanks for the heads-up. In general, I heard people from China that the audio
quality is better with Zoom.

Has anyone else experience problems with Zoom when there were participants from
China?

We had an issue with Zoom yesterday. There was heavy noise and couldn’t have
meeting with Doctor member connecting from China. Between other members in
Europe and Japan, zoom works fine though. So, we were forced to use GTM last
night.

Does anyone in China has similar issue? It should be identified whether it’s
common issue or not.

Subject: [opnfv-tech-discuss] Migration to Zoom for OPNFV project calls

All,

Now that we have successfully migrated TSC and release calls to using Zoom, we
want to do the same for other community calls.
I created a new wiki page
(https://wiki.opnfv.org/display/meetings/Zoom+Meeting+info) with Zoom meeting
info following the same pattern we have for odd/even hour calls (in Pacific
Time zone). Once nice feature of Zoom is that you are able to start calls
without an organizer, so we don't need account login info for Zoom accounts.

I'd like to ask PTLs and other meeting organizers to start migrating their
calls with Zoom in the next few weeks. The Go To Meeting (GTM) account is
still there, so if there are any issues you can always fall back on using GTM.

I'll poll the community in a few weeks and see how the migration has gone. If
everything goes well with Zoom, we will then close the GTM accounts.

Thanks,

Ray

[opnfv-tech-discuss] [dovetail] OVP exemption process review

2018-03-13 Thread Georg Kunz
Hi team,

The exemption process will be under review in today's TSC again. I have
incorporated feedback from last week's TSC call into the document, which
changed a few of the details. So, please take a look and cast your vote on
https://gerrit.opnfv.org/gerrit/#/c/52543/ and/or join today's TSC call.

Thank you!

Re: [opnfv-tech-discuss] ONS conference in LA

2018-03-13 Thread Alec Hothan (ahothan)

It would be great if somebody from the VSPERF team can provide input on this
(Sridhar should be around at the ONS conference) – I know more or less what
VSPERF and CSIT do since I have been following both projects.
I think that also falls into the general topic of describing the various DP
testing tools in LF which I have planned to add to the discussion.
I have updated the agenda – note that the breakout session URL has changed to
https://wiki.lfnetworking.org/display/LN/OPNFV+Breakout+at+LFN+Developer+Forum

Thanks

Dear Alec et al,

We did not mean to make a connection to VPP and VSPERF. Rather, we run TRex
adhoc to benchmark simple use cases. And, would like to know more about VSPERF
e.g. compared to CSIT. CSIT on Arm is in progress.

More details could be found here.

I have added a break out session in the wiki
(https://wiki.lfnetworking.org/display/LN/OPNFV+Unconference+topics+at+LFN+Developer+Forum).
The list of topics is tentative and not final, please add/suggest more topics.

I am also interested to discuss about DP and OVP, thanks for bringing this up
Georg.
Tina: I think DP benchmarking and ARM is one good topic (there were few emails
a few months ago regarding ARM support for DP benchmarking), I don’t quite get
the connection you make between VPP (what’s inside) and VSPERF on ARM.
FD.io/CSIT has been doing quite a bit of work with VPP benchmarking and they
have their own scripts – independent of VSPERF. Maybe you can elaborate?

From what I can see it is not that easy to try to merge testing tools and
scripts from the various projects (FD.io CSIT, VSPERF, NFVbench, Yardstick)
because they use different frameworks and may target different use cases. The
TGAAS initiative only covers the TG part and already shows that it is a very
slow process. I myself sometimes wonder if it is really worth the effort to
merge software components given that it is disruptive and resources are very
scarce. I think it might be more realistic to first try to unify all DP tools
by using a common spec such as TST009 and at least have every project “speak
the same language” (wrt terms being used, definitions, packet flows, flow
definitions, standard benchmark results reporting …), if we can achieve that,
it will be a big improvement.

Thanks

  Alec

[opnfv-tech-discuss] Developer Activities at the beginning of the 2018 Open Source Networking Summit

2018-03-13 Thread Phil Robb
Hello LFN Community Members:

*Given that ONS this year is the first opportunity to get many developers
from our key open source networking projects together, I’d like to map out
what we have planned and invite you to participate in what will surely be a
very productive event with many opportunities for collaborating on a myriad
of technical topics. On Saturday and Sunday (3/24, and 3/25) there is an
Infrastructure and CI/CD workshop held by members of OPNFV, OpenDaylight,
OpenStack, ONAP, FD.io and other communities. This is a small gathering of
key stakeholders responsible for CI/CD efforts across those projects. This
event is at full registration and is not accepting any additional attendees
at this time. On Sunday (3/25), Monday (3/26) afternoon, and Tuesday (3/27)
morning, the OpenDaylight project is holding their Florine Release
Developer Design Forum (DDF). Topics for the ODL DDF have been collected
on this wiki page
.
The agenda for the DDF is being created by members of the ODL TSC and the
sessions will be posted to the ONS Schedule.
The
format of the ODL DDF is generally: - Sunday - Deep technical topics only
relevant to OpenDaylight Developers- Cross Campus 800 Wilshire Blvd Los
Angeles, CA 90017 Walking directions -
Monday afternoon and Tuesday morning - Follow-on topics from the Sunday
sessions, plus new sessions that are relevant to either other LFN projects,
other downstream open source projects, or end users. Please keep an eye on
the above wiki page and agenda to track topics that are of interest to
you.Monday morning, the LFN communities will come together for a series of
joint sessions with topics affecting several if not all of the projects in
LFN. Topic areas for this portion of the Developer Forum include: - Cross
Project Testing, Integration, CI/CD, documentation tooling, etc.- Open
Standards and LFN Open Source Projects including MEF, IETF, ETSI, and
others.- Container Networking- Virtual Network Functions (VNF) Onboarding,
Lifecycle Management, Testing, etc.- Network Operating Systems (NOSs)- AI &
ML work that is starting to take shapeThe Call for Topics for this portion
of the event is over, but if you’d like to see what was submitted for
consideration, please take a look here
.
The accepted sessions have been published on the ONS website and can be
found here
.
If you have a topic that you strongly feel belongs in this section but it’s
not represented, please contact me at pr...@linuxfoundation.org
Monday afternoon and Tuesday morning there are
technical breakout sessions focused on ONAP, OPNFV, and OpenDaylight (as I
mentioned above). Sessions in these breakouts will be focused on the
current technical discussions occurring within each of those communities.
Within these sessions, we are also encouraging topics that may be of
interest to one or more of the other LFN projects. An example of this would
be ONAP’s use of OpenDaylight and any potential requests those communities
may have of each other regarding future development and/or testing. In
addition, FD.io is having a Mini Summit during the same time frame. The
Call-For-Topics for these project-focused events are located at the links
below. Please review these proposals at your earliest opportunity to see
the topics for discussion during this unprecedented event.OpenDaylight
OPNFV
FD.io
ONAP
Finally,
Tuesday morning from 8:00am to 9:00am PDT will be the first Linux
Foundation Networking (LFN) project Technical Advisory Council (TAC) face
to face meeting. The TAC is a new governance body formed at the creation
of the LFN umbrella project and they are tasked with aiding in the
coordination and cross-collaboration of the open source networking projects
within LFN. In this meeting the TAC will provide an overview of topics and
decisions since LFN was launched as well as lead a session meant to uncover
and highlight the most important cross-project initiatives that should be
started/continued, funded and tracked as part of our collective 2018 Goals
and Objectives. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to me if you have
questions or comments on this event. I look forward to seeing everyone in
Los Angeles in two weeks!*
Phil.

Re: [opnfv-tech-discuss] [opnfv-tsc] Wiki page for 2018 Goals

2018-03-13 Thread Tim Irnich
Hi all,

I updated the wiki page based on today’s discussion. I’d propose to use the red
text as input to the TAC/Board request for OPNFV goals.

Ray if nobody objects by end of your day, I’d suggest to proceed like this. If
anything comes up during the night I’ll handle it during the European morning
before the TAC meeting starts.

Dave Neary, Wenjing, Tim, and I had to chance to sit down and go over this last

[opnfv-tech-discuss] [barometer] Understanding the pip install requirements in barometer-collectd Dockerfile

2018-03-13 Thread Leif Madsen
So I'm looking at the Dockerfile in the barometer repo within
docker/barometer-collectd/ and there is a section that installs Python
dependencies from a requirements file, but doesn't actually install the
Python application itself (openstack-plugins).

https://github.com/opnfv/barometer/blob/master/docker/barometer-collectd/Dockerfile#L18-L21

Is this a bug? It looks like a section that might either be incomplete or
should be removed altogether. I've searched through the repo, and can't
seem to find anything else that uses this image as a FROM, or which seems
to actually install the contents of the repo clone.

Thanks,
Leif.
