[OGD] Dachau /Guantanamo/Stupiity
From: Buzz Baxter [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: [OGD] ignorant ... For a learned person this is pretty ignorant. To infer judgement of a country from the behavior of a few is not very bright. Does the name Dachau mean anything to you sir. The decision about who is ignorant is clear here. To excuse the actions of ones own country with actions of another country is just about the most stupid thing that has ever been put on this list. And who says that we are talking about the actions of a few. The entire US government knew about it and part of that government even ordered it ... A person known to have tortured in a US Prison is sent to Iraq to guard prisoners ... how ignorant can you get? And by the way, just in case you want to follow that Dachau line. You are not getting at me ... I am Belgian born at the end of the war (1944) and I came to Germany in 1970 ... this just in case someone wants to put me in the Nazi corner. And just to get your misguided interpretation of history right. The Germans have been punished and have paid dearly for their crimes. Now it is time to put Rumsfeld, Rice, and Bush on trial for war crimes. As far as you are concerned, well, stupidity is not yet a crime. It are people like you who enhance the idea of the ugly American and who are responsible for 9_11. Dr. Guido J. [OGD] Stupidity galore
From: Buzz Baxter [EMAIL PROTECTED] Bastion of civil rights where you reside, I would suggest that you look in the mirror. Tell your daughter to route herself through some other country and save all of us agravation. If there was any question left about your racism and extreme lack of intelligence (or better extreme presence of stupidity), that answer to Peter did removed all doubts. The real terrorist are you ... and I must repeat myself here, US Americans and the world should realise that 9_11 was really caused by people like you. Dr. Guido J. [OGD] international law, stupidity, and even pathos (all for the price of one)
In a message dated 7/14/04 5:06:35 AM Eastern Daylight Time, [EMAIL PROTECTED] writes: The have the right to refuse admission and detain the person until a plain leaves for that person's country or have the right to call in a representative of that person's country from the ambassy. They surely don't have the right to harrass and menatlly and physically torture that person. And what your beloved Lacey act is ... that is not international but US law ... No Lacey Act has ever been passed in any European country. No one ever said the Lacey Act is international law. What I said is that every country in the world asserts extraterritorial jurisdiction to some degree or another, and that the Lacey Act is facially well within accepted parameters in that regard. Do you not understand what extraterritorial jurisdiction means? (Unfortunately, my German dictionary has gone missing for the moment or I would try to find a translation. As it is, I'll leave it as an exercise for the reader.) As for your curious attempts at amateur legal analysis: do you actually have any idea at all what you're talking about, or do you, as I strongly suspect, just make this stuff up as you go along? Before you comment any further on what international law is, you ought to look into it - not just make pronouncements on what you happen to imagine it is or want it to be. I won't tell you to study and train in it - as you suggest anyone who wants to comment about taxonomy should - but you should at least do a little research because you're clearly way out of your depth. Since you're an academic, surely you must be able to find someone at your university who knows something about the subject. If you don't mind being laughed at to your face, check with them about your thoughts on international law and then get back to me. At this point, there really isn't any point in trying to continue what is passing for a discussion of the issue since you aren't discussing anything, you're just stamping your foot and insisting you're right without any attempt at justification. I have neither the time to waste nor the inclination to waste it on a one-sided discussion. If you ever manage to cite any authority for your rather curious positions, I'll be all ears. As for your childish attempts to personalize this by calling it my beloved Lacey Act, well, that's just pathetic. And stupid. I won't deign it with any further comments. Period, as you say, full stop. No wait, I will make one further comment. Go piss up a rope! Preferably against the wind, after drinking a liter of dark beer and half a kilo of asparagus. [OGD] Mirror, mirror
Buzz Baxter said: Bastion of civil rights where you reside, I would suggest that you look in the mirror. Tell your daughter to route herself through some other country and save all of us agravation. Buzz Baxter, I'm trying to decipher what you said. If you mean that next time you don't enter Singapore you'll have to be fingerprinted, then you're wrong. US citizens are still welcome here, and only treated like criminals if they've actually committed a crime. If you mean that next time you get off a plane in Singapore you'll be entertained by some uniformed goon who takes you off to an inspection room and rams her finger up your rectum, then you're still wrong. That happens in Detroit, not here. Though, in your case, I wish .. Peter O'Byrne Singapore ___ the OrchidGuide Digest (OGD) [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://lists.orchidguide.com/mailman/listinfo/orchids

Dear Sue, I am in posession of the book Frederick Sander - The Orchid King. This is my main source of info on Micholitz. Thanks for your concern. regards, greig Reply to: Greig, I have my copy of The Orchid King in front of me and the Bibliography mentions Micholitz under the heading Unpublished Material. Re: [OGD] Karasawa's Orchid Atlas, volume 2
Lisa, Dr. Kohji Karasawa is one of the most respected botanist in the world with many books and papers published in peer reviewed publications, so I would never even imagine someone calling his work sloppy. The book is 26.5 cm X 37 cm (approximately 101/2 X 14 1/2 inches) and contains 298 exceptional color pictures, many full page, with descriptions in both Japanese and English. I have the set and I treasure it. icones - Original Message - From: Lisa Thoerle [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: orchid list [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Thursday, July 15, 2004 2:04 PM Subject: [OGD] Karasawa's Orchid Atlas, volume 2 Has anyone seen this book? The last in the series, it covers pleurothallids. I'd be interested in hearing folks' evaluations. Is it worth the rather outrageous price? Is the taxonomy sloppy, or perhaps badly out of date? RE: [OGD] Zygopetalum Rein Moonlight
Also, the AOS web page has a link to the RHS orchid registration records. You can check either the name of the plant, or enter one or both of the parents, if known, to get the information you need.
