Oh well, I was going to announce it anyway, but I simply can't resist making
the most of the opportunity that Andy Easton has just handed me.
In OGD V6 #287, Easton said : I've never met Peter O'Byrne ... and I
accept Peter O'Byrne has some useful field knowledge of orchids in SE Asia
but as he is not a trained taxonomist that knowledge is of limited use to
serious orchidists.

To put this discovery in context, there have only been 3 other new Vanda
species discovered since 1930, and none in the last 20 years !
So, Andy, please enlighten us all . what has your most significant
contribution to serious orchidology been ? Other than playing politics at
AOS (yawn) and using the web to rubbish people you've never met ?
