Re: [Origami] What did Mark Kennedy use to protect the models for his pins?

Matthew Green asked for the product used by Mark Kennedy to coat his folds
in order to turn them into pins and magnets.

Hi Matt. He used polyester resin. One of the brands he used was
Envirotex-lite. Might you have issues of The Paper from the 90's? Mark
published a couple of articles explaining his process in detail back then.

Cheers.

Today's Google Doodle celebrates the 51st anniversary of Mr. Roger's first
taping of his PBS show, Mr. Roger's Neighborhood. Clink on the Google Doodle
and during the short animated video, you will see Mr. R. folding an origami
crane to give to a neighborhood child.

I have a few, gifted by Mark to my daughters. I’m pretty sure it’s just a
resin. Epoxy or polyester would work. Take care with material handling, gloves,
masks and ventilation, as most resins have toxicity.

The specific brand of resin, I’m not sure, but having done some resin work
myself, most work the same, they soak into the paper and make it hard, and are
robust.

coat his origami figures to make his pins and magnets.

Thank you!

Hi,
I think there is a Dasa Severova's model called Dashu box in her book that is a
bicolor masu variation

[Origami] parent seeking origami teacher for 7 year old in northern New Jersey

2018-09-21 Thread Karen Reeds
I am passing along this plea from a good parent in Mountain Lakes, NJ. If
you can help Tim, please get in touch with him directly.

I've suggested an OrigamiUSA junior membership and Sunday folding sessions
and Taro's Origami Studio in Brooklyn.

Thanks!

It looks to me like a variation of Tomoko Fuse's Square Box base that is
published in several of her box books. There is one that looks like this in
her Fabulous Origami boxes book; Square box, body 3 (variation) on page 74.
