Re: [Origami] Research on gender differences in origami

2022-08-13 Thread Alex Matthews via Origami
Hello Elina,

OrigamiUSA conducted a survey back in 2015 of over 1,700 individuals that
looked at various trends in origami and its relation to OrigamiUSA, and part of
that study looked at differences between gender, ethnicity, location, level of
education, categories of models folded, and much more. The link for it is:
https://origamiusa.org/news/update-2-origamiusa-survey-results-2015-2016
.
There is a wealth of information there that may help you in your research.

Best,
Alex

[Origami] 2021 International Origami Exchange

2021-10-30 Thread Alex Matthews
Hello Everyone,

I am excited to announce that signups for this year's International
Origami Exchangeare
open! Since Covid-19 has disrupted our usual procedure of exchanging models
and insight at conventions, this is a great way for paperfolders around the
world to interact through physical media. Last year was a great success and
more than 95% of participants verified that they had received their package.
Here's how it works. Visit the event page
<https://www.facebook.com/internationalorigamiexchange>on Facebook, where
you can view the rules and find the link to the sign-up. Agree to the rules
and fill out the entry form which closes on November 12th. You will receive
your exchange partner's contact information by November 14th. Then, send
him or her a package containing any origami-related items, and something
unique from where you live. Send the package by December 3, then wait for
your package to arrive!
After receiving your package, please share your photos on our Facebook page
or Instagram using hashtag #origamiexchange2021.
If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to email us at
plateauorig...@gmail.com.

Re: [Origami] Cube Calendar

2019-08-20 Thread Alex Matthews
Hello Maureen,

I believe the Calendar Cube is the 6 piece Jackson Cube folded from printed
paper. You can find diagrams for the Cube drawn by David Mitchell and
released on his website here:
http://www.origamiheaven.com/pdfs/pauljacksonscube.pdf

Sincerely,
Alex

Re: [Origami] spiral pleated peace dove

2019-07-17 Thread Alex Matthews
Hello Claire,

I believe you may be searching for Michael Adcock’s “Bluebird of Happiness.”

Diagrams can be found in OUSA convention 1993 and Pajarita Magazine 113.
(Source: Gilad Origami) and there a several video tutorials for it as well.

Hope it helps,

Alex

Hi Todd,

Is possible that the creator is Eito Ishii? In the database:
http://www.giladorigami.com/origami-database/Sheep%20Eiko%20Ishii there is a
sheep published in NOA 20.

Hope that helps,
